Raw veggies--cause of stalls?
I've been at this for 3 months now. I've lost 11 pounds. It is slow going, but I am not giving up. My weight seems to come off in little amounts (1-1.5 pounds over 2 days) spaced between what seems like long stretches of no loss (a week, two weeks, once even a little more).
As I track and watch this happen, it seems to me that I don't lose anything at all when I eat salads or raw veggies. Most days, I have about 2 cups of salad at lunch. But on days when I go with mostly meat and eggs, with a little cooked veggies (like green beans or steamed broccoli or sauteed asparagus), then I see a loss the next day. Is it possible that the raw veggies in salad could somehow stall me out, while cooked veggies wouldn't? I would have thought it would be the other way around. Any ideas about what's going on? Oh, and higher carb fruits, like 1/2 avocado or a 5g serving of strawberries, do not seem to inhibit my loss. Just the salad veggies. (And I don't use tomatoes much--mostly spinach, romaine, cucumber, a few radishes, sometimes olives but not always.) |

only thing I can suggest is cutting out the fresh veggies for a while and see what happens. doesn't make sense though, a veggie's a veggie, right!

Carbs are carbs and any amount of carbs can stall some people. Even eggs cause stalls for some people. Pennington (see Good Calories Bad Calories) had patient who could not lose if they ate as much as 1 apple. For some people dairy causes stalls. For some people artificially sweetened foods can cause a stall. Some people are stalled by coffee.
