Induction level foods to maintain weight?
Hi everyone .. Just wondering anyone else finds that they have to stick to induction "okay" foods in order to maintain their weight loss ... I am finding that I'm having trouble with alot of foods - nuts make me bloat and gain and all artificial sweeteners seem to do the same thing .. i feel like I'm the only one out here eating only the induction friendly foods ... Anyone else?

I have the same problem.. Almost everything stalls me or makes me gain. Everyone's body is different and reacts different to all diets. The first time I did atkins I lost 80lbs and kept it off for over two years. However personally I did not stay on low carb after I reached my goal weight. For me for whatever reason my body did not do well maintaining on low carb. I would gain weight here and there. Therefore I decided to do weight watchers when I was at my goal weight. I kept the weight off all that time. Do what works for you. not everyone is the same. I gained weight because my grandmother passed away as well as a good friend within months of each other. I was dealing with severe depression. I plan on doing what I did last time. reaching my goal weight using atkins and switching to weight watchers to maintain. I suggest you try different things and see what works for you....

yep same here i eat pretty much induction levels most of the time... i love nuts but they have to be an occasional treat, same as with the bars etc
unfortunately they became a bit more than occasional over chrimbo and its taken me til now to repair the damage and had to go meat/egg to do so... sometimes i get jealous of all these people on 50-60 carbs a day cos i could never go there aah well at least we can maintain at induction, could be worse x |

I eat the same way now as I did when I first started a year and a 1/2 ago.
It works and I don't want to mess it up by adding other foods in right now, anyway. |

I eat at (mostly) induction levels. I sometimes have a little more cheese than allowed, but find that adding back grains etc just makes me crave. Not to mention packing on the pounds! I just up my veggie quantities and stay eating the same stuff as before.

even legal salads and veggies can stall me and i have to go meat/eggs for a couple days to get going again. i don't mind tho - heck - i had steak twice this weekend!!! ![]() |

I try to eat on induction levels most of the time. When I stall out it's usually because I have been eating nuts, nuts, nuts and too much Fage yogurt. When I go back to super simple eating, and also don't eat until my body says it is hungry, then I lose again.

Thank you for all of your responses! I was honestly beginning to believe that I was some weird exception to the rule. I can't have cheese because 1) it makes me gain 2) I get rashy and bloated ... same with nitrate meats - so I eat a very plain diet. AHWELL .. Occasionally I will open a container of unsweetened chocolate almond milk or have a few nuts ... I guess the key will be to allow myself little treats and then go right back to plain eating (something that hasn't been too hard...)
I'm not totally devistated that I can't go too far up the ladder - just was wondering if there was something wrong with me... HECK - I'm at 2.25 years and a size 6 (down from size 24) - I'd be a FOOL to eat any other way.. hahaha |

There is a reason induction works...there is enough variety to maintain this WOE long term...all meats, most vegetables, and portioned controlled dairy. I don't need much more variety and too much variety derails me... I get bloated and stir up cravings eating foods off higher rungs of the ladder.
Overall, maintenance doesn't require alot of thinking or planning when one sticks to induction foods, therefore it doesn't feel like a diet. I am a big advocate of keeping the diet simple and sticking to induction foods makes it simple. Like the OP, I am not devastated that I can't go too far up the ladder; for me, the mental relief of a consistent weight and not overthinking what I can/can't eat easily outweighs any deprivation that I may feel (and that in itself is a rare feeling). |

I find that I can eat most veggies, even higher carb veggies, and not gain; I can't do ANY grains at all, and only berries and melon in the fruit department. I eat a lot of fat and dairy, and I maintain just fine, and feel great!!!

Way too much time on my hands!
|
I eat a huge variety of foods within the realm of animal protein, fruits, vegetables including squash, pumpkin, green loads of color, 2 fruits daily berries and an apple, HWC in my coffee, hemp seeds, nuts and seeds, yogurts, kefir occasional cheese (not daily) and booster foods like nutritional yeast, etc.
I am not insulin resistant and yes I am sensitive to grains but that's the only thing I monitor very closely and rarely consume unless it's quinoa. I worked hard to adapt my body. In other words, I didn't let a 2lb overnight gain be my determining factor for my tolerance of foods rather I allowed a 1-2 week normalizing period. This is important. I think 50-75% of the temporary gains here on "specific foods" would be more normalized if folks didn't freak out over temporary fluctuations of water in the body. Yes, some get extreme cravings and that is insulin resistance......It can be repaired for many. |
