Am I in Ketosis?

Unfortunately, I am in China and cannot find ketostix. I am on day 4 of Atkins and have gained, but am hoping I will start burning in ketosis. I still feel really hung. Hungrier than before I started. My calories are averaging about 2000/day when I ate 1400 before, after following WW for years. I tend to gain when I eat over 1200 generally.

Yesterday, I ate more fat in one day than I have ever eaten in my life, but I am trusting this WOE.

My Atkins breakfast is To Die For, btw. I have been whipping 2 eggs with cinnamon, a bit of liquid splenda, vanilla and 1 oz of cream cheese and making a pancake type thing. Stopped coffee and went to tea, which I can drink plain.

My breath seems the same. What about the smell of my urine? Will that change? I have been under 20 carbs per day. I must say that I usually eat at least 5 servings of veggies a day before this diet, so it is an adjustment. I also ate a lot of sugar like candies at my desk and nonfat lattes with 2 sugars everyday.

Any tips about determining my ketogenic state? When will the pounds fall off. I am not very heavy but I have 15 pounds that were not here last year.

You folks with 100# or more to lose amaze me! You are so committed. 15# has been my struggle and kudos to all of you with these amazing, healthy losses. What an inspiration.

Yes, what she said! It doesn't sound like you are quite there yet. And the ketostix are not really that necessary.

No appetite

Some people take a little longer to get there. Just keep at it.

I get no symptoms. I lose a few pounds of water weight and the sticks turn pink. Everyone talks about odor, energy and appetite suppression and I have no idea what that's like!

TMI alert... there are some little white flecks in my urine and i am drinking a ton today. Very thirsty, but still feel hungry. I work from my home office and am very stressed with deadlines right now, so it is easy for my to eat all day. I will wait until at least 12:30 and have an omelet for lunch today.

Waiting until afternoon to have your first meal of the day is a bad idea. Unless you wake up at 11:30am.

I should add to this list -- a ton of energy.

I am not waiting for my first meal. It is 10:30 am on Wednesday morning here. I ate breakfast at 8am and am trying to space out my eating and not eat until lunchtime. I will snack at 4pm with my kids and then eat dinner at 6:30 or 7.

ah. okay. I took your post to mean you were going to wait until 12:30 to eat for the first time today. Glad that's not the case.

I feel that if you are hungry now, you should have a high fat, low carb snack like a piece of cheese. Not eating when you are hungry can lead to overeating bad things and falling of plan.

Thanks for the advice. I am so committed. Having pizzas on the grill with friends and kids Friday evening and am already planning to bring my own LC pizza and seltzer so that I don't go off induction. I think ketosis has kicked in and I am feeling loopy. I am at my desk trying to work but on LCB instead!

you could be feeling loopy because of carb withdrawl. It will get better, I promise.
