TSH/Blood tests and Budeprion/Wellbutrin

I am having a lot of symptoms of hypothyroid;weight gain, hair falling out, moody, foggy minded, forgetful, etc and I was wondering if the antidepressant Budeprion/Wellbutrin will influence any blood tests to determine if that is the problem? Thank you

hi donna,
i'm not really sure. but many times before docs prescribe these medications, they have patients undergo a round of blood tests. did you do this?
Perhaps you should call in to your doctor's office and ask these questions about the symptoms you are experiencing, if you can.
best of luck!

I'd get my thyroid completely tested BEFORE I started those drugs. Alot of times Doctors foist off anti depressants when the problem is actually the THYROID.

Nope, Wellbutrin will not affect blood tests. However as mentioned above the depression may be related to the thyroid disorder. Personally I take thyroid meds AND Wellbutrin AND another antidepressant because I am crazy.

I take Synthroid and Wellbutrin. I don't think the one effects the other as far as blood tests.

I just started Wellbutrin this wknd and I felt like CRAP for 2 days...the switch from Celexa to this one about killed me!!

They drew all my labs before I started...kinda anxious to see what comes back.

Going off Celexa stinks . . . I will never take any SSRI but Prozac again, because Prozac has a long half-life and minimal withdrawal symptoms. SSRIs have never worked for me anyway! Good luck with the Wellbutrin. It's been great for me in the past. It "pooped out" and I'm trying it again after a break - I think it's helping.

Fawn, thanks for the encouragement - depression is a b*tch! Especially when you've had it since puberty and don't know any kind of "normal." Makes any kind of dietary plan hard too.
