Apple Cider Vinegar

I bought some organic Apple Cider Vinegar made by Braggs, "with the mother" like a week ago after reading the health benefits, but I am so afraid to try it! Is it really as bad as people say, like mixing in a glass of water?
Does anyone have any other ideas for how to get this down on a daily basis aside from the water?

Use it on salads or sprinkle it on veggies. It's really not bad in water. Just drink it down and be finished with it.

To help kick start my weight loss, my dr had me drink this 3x per day: 6 oz spring water + 1/2 teaspoon apple cidar vinegar + 1 teaspoon lemon juice + 2 oz non-sweetened cranberry juice. I drank this concoction for 2 weeks. At first I thought I was drinking salad dressing but I eventually got used to it. This drink plus a vegetarian diet during those 2 weeks helped me lose over 10 lbs. I don't "have" to eat vegetarian or drink this anymore, but I still occasionally drink it, it's a great way to cleanse the liver which facilitates weight loss.

I add it to water & add a sprikle of stevia powder. It's good.

Be sure to brush your teeth well after drinking it.

I read elsewhere on this site that you should NOT brush your teeth after drinking apple cider vinegar, as it softens the tooth enamel temporarily. Rather, swish your mouth out with water and wait to brush for an hour or two.

I have been doing this all week. Coconutmilk recommended 1/4 cup to a gallon of water. My ACV is from Trader Joes..not Braggs, but is unfiltered w/the mother. I swear it almost has an aftertaste of honey. I haven't used any sweetener. Try it! It really isn't that bad....

how much ACV are you adding to the coconut milk/water solution? Sounds so odd and interesting, I want to try it!

Oh no! I'm sorry for the confusion. I meant that another poster named Coconutmilk recommended 1/4 cup of ACV to a gallon of water.

Hmm...it might work tho.

Sorry again!

My 9 year old has been doing this for the past week. We give him a shot of it---1 tsp mixed with a bit of water and a bit of Splenda mixed in. He is doing well getting it down, but he is funny to watch! He will sip the ACV and gulp a huge bunch of water. My hubby has him taking it for his excema--hoping his acid/alkalinity will change in favor for him. My hubby takes it for his acid reflux. Made the mistake once of taking ACV by itself! They are quite the pair taking it. They both make faces while drinking it!! I just suck it up and get it down. I don't see what the fuss is all about quite frankly. But then again I sip oil--4 TBL of coconut oil daily too!!

I really like ACV. The first few days I had a hard time drinking it but I think it was more a mental thing. Now I drink it daily with no problems. I mix mine (1-2 tablespoons) with iced tea and add a little splenda. I notice that if I feel a cold/sore throat coming on that I feel better almost immediately after drinking. I take mine in the morning or early afternoon. Some people have reported problems sleeping if they take too late in the day because they have more energy.

I need to get more ACV today. I put it in with about 32 oz of water and use stevia in with it.

I am going to start giving it to my dog...it apparently is good for them if they have eyes that are always runny. It's supposed to help their PH.

Don't listen to any of these people! It's DISGUSTING!

I use it in my daily salad dressing though and it's delish! I just whirl it up with a bit of mustard, garlic, salt and peper and maybe some EVOO. It's really, really good!

I was using the TJ's until I found it is pasteurized (not raw) so I switched.

I actually enjoy ACV in a warm cup of green tea w/lemon. However, it's the only vinegar I use so it's in my salad dressing. It's a live vinegar and should replace your old vinegars.

DiamondDeb, I read it in a number of threads on this site on ACV (though there are also people who say they brush immediately afterward). It made sense to me, but maybe it's one of those YMMV things. Personally I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I just swish afterward.

I put 2 or more teaspoonsof Braggs in a cup of water along with 1 teasp of cinnamon(good for blood pressure, blood sugar, etc.) and a big heaping tablespoon of flax meal (omega 3's, and other benefits). Tastes like a liquid muffin.

I think most people take it in the morning or morning/afternoon but I don't *think* it matters if you have already eaten. The one thing I have consistently heard is that it's not good to take in the evening because it gives you a considerable energy boost.

Hey guys,

Just a word of caution, I've been drinking organic ACV for a long time and recently I went through a horrible dental experience, and thought I had a tooth that needed extraction.

Actually, I had "pulpitis" and it was caused by excessive acid (such as ACV) on my teeth.

I stopped the ACV, and have been taking anti-inflammatories and switched to a toothpaste that helps repair acid damage.

ACV is an awesome food and it is wonderful for the body in so many ways. Just be aware it can eat through your tooth enamel. I'm stopping it for now. The pain was incredible.

Hi, I'm an ex Jersey girl myself. I use ACV in salad dressing. Extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper a few pinches of dried basil or whatever herb you like, dijon mustard, a little stevia powder. It's simple, just experiment. Happylady.

I way overdid it in just one day and could feel my teeth hurting. It feels kind of like when I eat too much sugar. I've been taking massive amounts of garlic oil and added calcium trying to neutralize it, but backing off for awhile.
