Is THAT all you're eating????
I was having lunch at the office last week. A bunch of gals went out and brought back enormous amounts of take out Chinese and started eating it. Someone looked over at me, noticed that all that was on my plate was a 1" cube of smoked gouda and a sliced hard boiled egg. "You poor thing, is that all you can have?"
I told her that was all I WANTED. She went on and on about how "lucky" I was not to have an appetite (she didn't know me when I weighed 70 pounds more than I do now.) I just smiled and agreed that I was indeed, fortunate. Sometimes I actually forget just how grateful I am to have found this way of eating. Years ago, before discovering low carb, I'd have probably inhaled 1500 calories of that Chinese stuff and still felt hungry. |

That's great. Good for you. Nice to know you can be satisfied on less food. So much better for you too.

I must admit that I would have thought the samething. One egg and a piece of cheese? I would starve on that! I had 3 burgers and two steaks for lunch, lol.

I honestly think I could be your twin. Never knew a woman (besides myself) who could and does eat that much red meat.

Well, I think I did go home and have a big steak that evening. And sometimes I eat more than that for lunch. The big difference, I think, is I don't eat some gargantuan carb laden disaster at EVERY meal. Not to mention snacks! Lots of times I'm just not that hungry and just have a protein/fat snack like that egg and cheese.

Even though I'm definitely a volume eater, I find that I'm really not hungry between meals anymore. I used to eat big meals, but then I'd graze in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. Now that I can fill up on good protein and healthy fats, I pretty much eat my few meals a day and that's all.

poopsie, what a great post. I can relate. When I ate a lot of carbs I used to be hungry all the time. Now I can last for hours if I eat enough fat and protein. I still can't get over it.

Eh I always tell people who make obnoxious comments like that, that I am on the "I can eat whatever I want and its none of your business diet" and smile obnoxiously.
![]() I can't stand obnoxious comments about what I eat, no matter what it is. (I got those comments for 10+ years working on wall street with all men while eating low fat too.) |

3lbs of meatloaf in 3 mealtimes.
actually, i am pleased. i wanted to eat the whole thing when it came out of the oven. I willed myself for the sake of budgetary concerns to make it last at least 3 times; Monday eve, Tues Eve & tonight. However, what is left is not enough, so i will augment it with something else. i hope this weekend's london broil will last me 2 times. it is a tad over 2 lbs. I truly am envious of those who can be satisfied with small amounts of food, be they low carbers or not. I am not a spoilsport however.I congratulate them in their good fortune. i am learning to live with it. I saw another episode of BIG MEDICINE. Actually, it was a repeat. If I can keep those people in my mind, then, going to bed hungry every night won't seem such a terrible affliction after all. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI
