Coupons for cheaper meat and sandwiches....
So I've been googling coupons after I got inspired by a yahoo news section for coupons, and I have been finding all kinds of good stuff
shortcutsdotcom if you type in your grocery member card number and hit up the coupons, it automatically deducts. having to be pretty savvy with changing the print settings on my computer but found coupons for tobasco, toilet paper, toothpaste, dreamfields pasta (YES!), subway, carls jr, del taco, meat discounts from vons, progresso broth and soups, splenda coupon & nuts coupon from target (as well as meat for the supertargets), 5.00 off $25.00 or more at GNC, redi whip, and apparently manufacturers coupons are a big sell on that big auction website for bigger brands such as kraft. the sites I went to were retailmenotdotcom and couponmomdotcom, but mostly searching for the brand name and the word coupon got pretty decent results. Yup, hit the nail on the head. I just put in my phone number which is the alternate ID for my local grocer.

Ok, here is my suggestion, tho some of you may find it disgusting.
I live in a metro area, relatively affluent. Usually, the grocery just does not sell all of the displayed meat and seafood. Bam, they slap a $2 off sticker on it the last day or so before expiration. Choose small cuts, and this can make it more than 50% off. This is not meat that has turned green or anything, the meat is only given a short window for sale and the grocery is conservative. When you get home, either use the meat immediately or put in in the freezer. I usually repackage the meat and if it smells off, I can always return it, no questions asked. If you really care about saving money on groceries, I know you have a 24 cu ft chest freezer. I don't do the same with fish, I don't think fish ages well. ps. My second suggestion is to make sure you sign up for additional savings, I use upromise to save on branded items and then usually use my discover card which will frequently give me 5% cash back. |

*Generally speaking* unless the product also has a "use or freeze by" date on the package you should expect to get: 3 days on fish (not seafood such as scallops or lobster) 5 days on poultry or organ meats (beef liver for instance) 7 days on pork 7-10 days on beef, longer if you handle it properly. Now of course if you live in a hot part of the country and get stuck in traffic for 90 minutes and your AC doesn't work that slab of salmon you just bought is going to have to be used for supper and the t-bone should be used soon. |

Most of the coupon programs require you change settings or install software on your computer to print the coupons, which are harmless but many work places won't allow the installs.
Just an FYI. |

Have not read the replies BUT if you have a super target near you there are printable coupons at the super target website or at the hot coupon world website (click Resources and select Target coupon generator) for $2 off Archer Farms ham. Here in my area the deli black forest ham is $6.99 a pound. Ask the deli person to divide it in to 1/3 lb baggies and you will pay about $0.30 each 1/3 lb or less than $1 a pound. You can print as many as you need. NOTE, the coupons expire on Saturday 12/20 so you have to do this in the next day or so.
You can freeze and have deli ham sandwich meat for quite a while.
