Anyone have exp w/biofeedback for ADHD?

Both my dss have been diagnosed with ADD and one has ADHD. The one w/ADHD is being treated with biofeedback or brain re-training. His problems are minimal and he is not failing or anything that is too bad so we're not going the medication route. The other ds nees the medication as it's been very effective for his issues.

Anyone have experience with this? Thoughts? Any advice is appreciated. TIA

My son is now 15 and was diagnosed at age 3 after extensive neurological and allergy testing. The portion of the brain that affects those with ADHD is the front region-the same area as those with Tourettes-hence the impulsivity or blurting or speaking out without a lot of forethought. He was on Adderall for 12 years without a problem-Ritalin made him cry and have nightmares. He was placed on Concerta when he went through puberty at age 13-Adderall can cause mood or rage problems when mixed with higher levels of testosterone when going through puberty. He is intelligent, has no learning disorders and is still very active and will always require a bit more effort to concentrate on some things in some situations (ie the classroom) than other kids. The medicine was a godsend for my child and helped him tremendously. He has gone for strict meds checkups every 3 months by his pediatrician and in the summers we weaned him off his meds for a monitored period of time to see if he outgrew or didn't need them anymore. He has had biofeedback therapy at his school from the beginning of his diagnosis and I think it has helped tremendously. The coping skils they teach are necessary from some kids to function in stressful situations like the classroom etc. when they have to sit and concentrate for extended periods. You know what is best for your child and if they need the meds to function and live a full healthy life then go for it-don't let any person doc or otherwise sway you in your knowledge as a mother with what your child needs.
