Refridgerated Almond Breeze.....

So, I was at my local Publix last night searching high and low(they moved it) for the organic cream and half & half and what did i find.........

Half Gallon cartons of Almond Breeze milk... in the refridgerator section. I was like, OH SNAP, got all excited..... then i looked at the ingredient lable...

Original
Ingredients: filtered water, evaporated cane juice, almonds, calcium carbonate, sea salt, potassium citrate, carrageenan, soy lecithin, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D2, d-alpha-tocopherol (natural vitamin E).

Vanilla
Ingredients: filtered water, evaporated cane juice, almonds, calcium carbonate, natural vanilla flavor with other natural flavors, sea salt, potassium citrate, carrageenan, soy lecithin, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D2, d-alpha-tocopherol (natural vitamin E),

Chocolate
Ingredients: filtered water, evaporated cane juice, almonds, cocoa (Dutch process), calcium carbonate, sea salt, potassium citrate, carrageenan, natural flavors, soy lecithin, vitamin A palmitate, vitamin D2, d-alpha-tocopherol (natural vitamin E).

I am sure that there are other icky things other that the cane huice on the label, but that stopped me from buying it. Oh well, maybe they will make one with splenda soon .

Good days to all-
Jen

You need to get the unsweetened. You were looking at the sweetened ones.

I have been trying to find unsweetened hemp milk but haven't had any luck locally-only the sweetened.

The unsweetend vanilla and chocolate are fantastic. I haven't found them in the refridgerated section yet. They seem to have only the sweetened ones there.

Interesting! I've not seen any refrigerated ones - but then I don't look for them there and seldom look at that section except for heavy cream!

I love the shelf-stable ones though, they stay perfectly fresh until opened, at which point I use a sharpie marker to put the date I open it on the top and then store it in the fridge - so I KNOW when it's past its prime (doesn't happen often as I use it a lot) and can ditch it if necessary.

I don't think....

I went to the blue diamond website, and i don't think that they make the refirderated ones in unsweetened, wish they did, or one with splenda or something

Yeah ... you really gotta watch the labels close. Stealth sugar has many names.

As a type 2 diabetic using low carb to control my blood sugar the minefield sometimes known as the grocery store is doubly dangerous.

Would these be located in the refrigerated section or are they stored in a boxed section like soy milk? I checked 2 health food stores last night and neither carried it....

My grocery stores carry them near the boxed shelved soymilk. TJ's has it too.

two places

There are tow different kids of Almond Breeze now. One is in the 32oz box on the shelf in the health food section ( at Kroger), and then there is a new one in the refridgerator section, that is in a half gallon container. The one in the refridgerator is sweetened, and the oness on the shelf come in box sweetened and unsweetend.

About how long does the unsweetened almond breeze last in the 'fridge once it's been opened? Does it last longer than regular milk or about the same?
