first day on Atkins

After much buildup and sole searching today is day one on Atkins. Breakfast will be eggs and turkey bacon, lunch hamburger with a green salad (no dressing since I can't do the vinegar thing) and dinner will be chicken and a green veggie or 2. Snacks will be hard boiled eggs. This morning, I did the oral yeast test, and surprise, surprise strings. I am so hopeful that with my determination and all of your support, I will be successful. Thanks to all

How about some full fat ranch or blue cheese dressings on your salad or maybe just some olive oil?

Good Luck!

I make my own blue cheese dressing with blue cheese crumbles, sour cream, a splash or 2 of vinegar and a pinch of splenda - it's creamy thick goodness. I eat it during induction - I don't heap it on - but a little on a green salad goes a long way for adding flavor! Congratulations on your decision to make changes! I'm restarting - today is my day three - I feel really good about committing myself again. Best wishes!

Welcome!

Did you know that we can eat Ranch, blue cheese dressing...anything low carb....I believe he says anything that is 2 or lower per 2 tblsp.? Do you like turkey bacon better than regular bacon? I prefer the regular and it's okay to have it! Now I go by the 2002 book so it may have changed! Welcome!
Hugs!
Marcia

Welcome aboard!! Don't worry about over eating! Your appetite will naturally decrease. I was eating every few hours. If you get hungry between meals, eat some more protein and don't forget to add some healthy fats as that will help with your appetite. I easily ate 2000 calories a day the first week and still lost about 9 pounds.

Lots of great people here on the boards and loads of information!!

You're Welcome!! It does get easier, especially after you start to see the results.

I told my husband I was going to give it one week, just to get past my cravings for junk. It was hard, but, the next week I went up a little in carbs and kept on losing. The most important thing to remember for me was to know that even if I fell off plan (and I did... often) I always relost the weight. I once regained about 7 pounds after a two week binge and thought, oh well, that's it.... back to my old habits. I took a good look at the inches and pounds I had lost and knew I didn't want to go back to 200+ pounds. So, I started eating clean again (not even induction level) and within one week, lost that 7 lbs. again. Now, I give myself a 5 lb limit, no excuses! The other thing that I have found (for myself, at least) was that the longer I stayed on plan, the less times I cheated or fell off. I felt I was never going to get to goal, after all I've been at least 180 for probably 15-20 years (I stopped counting when I felt that there no point any more). Once I got to 190, I decided to try another 10 lbs., then I wanted out of the 180's, etc.... Baby step will get you there. For me, it was easier to talk to myself in 10 pound goals. At least I would be thinner and healthier than when I started. I now weight less than when I got married - more than 22 years ago. I have a pair of shorts from high school (class of 79) and said one of these days I'll get back into them. I can zip them up, but have a few more pounds before I can be comfortable in them. My someday is almost here!! Yours will be, too and before you know it, you'll be motivating someone else.

You're going to do great! Post often and get to know the threads and you'll see the wealth of information and support will get you through the toughest of days!

Debbie
