That is awesome.

I have always really respected Bob and Jillian. They don't always advocate low carb, but they do advocate whole foods, which I like. Biggest Loser does not always show that, but both of their books have a lot of great advice.

Bob used very good words - he did not bash HFCS - he said it is in foods that we don't NEED. Unless you're a kid or a very active adult, those foods are not helping many people lose weight or satisfy hunger. It is an additive to a group of foods that is not conducive to fat folk systems.

I think he said it b/c incredibly, some folks do not know it is sugar.

I don't watch TV so here's a question: what all products do they advertise on the show? If there are any pre-packaged food products like dried pasta, or frozen dinners I wonder if they have to be very careful what they say on the show?

My first thought when I saw this thread was "wow! I wonder if this station is one carries those pro-HFCS commercials, if so they will hear about it".

I think a lot of people don't realize how much the advertising industry controls the content of shows and magazines, well haven't' heard about TV shows as much, but I heard the very much control the content of magazines.

Brita (the water people..) is a big one, they have a fridge with a big BRITA sign on it and they make a point of showing someone walking over to it and filling up their water jug...and last night there was a whole segment on Bob and his team going to 'Subway' and choosing low fat options. (of course...)

They do a gum too, Trident? Dentyne?

Kinda makes me wonder, though. Did he ever read the ingredient list on those 100 calorie snack packs that they were pushing so hard last season? I am glad that he made the statement that he did, but wonder how he feels about some of the endorsements that the show does.

after last week, I refuse to watch it.
I don't care how immature the one Mother was being about her abilities, Jillian showed her maturity level through actions. This stuff gets ratings? The way she spoke to these people was something so low class, demeaning, unprofessioanl and un-necessary.

If this behavior buys ratings, I have diminsihed faith in this society.

I am a weight loss coach. I met with 4 women last night and we discussed this. They literally asked me if I will be as harsh on them. I will be doing this for a living and in my opinion miss Jillian is a poor example of a lady.....a mentor......a weight loss coach.

I have to agree with you Fawn. Her treatment of those women was unwarranted, unprofessional and immature.

I've never seen The Biggest Loser. Never had any interest in it, and likely never will.

Just wanted to say, Fawn, if I lived in NorCal, you would SO have another client!

(I was stationed in Monterey a while back, and it was PARADISE. Man, I miss that place...)

Fawn, I have to admit I love the show - it is like a bad car crash. Why do I watch it - I don't know but I can't stop. But.....Jillian is too much and I would not want her as my trainer ever. I would take Bob any day over her.

ITA Fawn.
I was appalled at how Jillian was telling the one woman that she would take her daughters leg off and beat her over the head with it!
What has this show turned into?
Seems to me like it's fast becoming..Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!! And I absolutely despise that show!! I won't be tuning in anymore either.

She was not this bad before she left (and came back.. more drama LOL) I have never cared for her.

But the obvious Yin and Yang of Bob and Jillian is for ratings purposes only.

I enjoy the show because I love to see people lose weight and find new life within themselves... I just gloss over the Jillian drama because I know it is mostly staged.

I used to hate Jillian until I read her book. She seems to get all the "beotch" scenes in the show which really don't come across that way in her book. This tells me she's either got a very good editor for her book or the show makes her out to be bad. I prefer to think she's not so bad in real life.

I really dig that there are shows out there bringing the obesity epidemic to the forefront. I was enjoying watching the show not so much for any competition, don't agree with the lack of fat over abundance of exercise and i know the rest of you feel that way as well. My point for watching the show is to try to understand some of the different dynamics folks have with weight loss to further able my business. Getting into the heads of the obese so I may be able to expand my knowledge beyond just "will power" because I've never had eating disroders beyond that of a glutenous attitude. I've never had a fear of being thin, never turned to food while depressed/angry/sad/happy......

I do understand addiction because I am an addict.....or maybe I should say creature of habit......beer and cigarettes after work every night, eating the wrong foods...etc.

I'm going to write to the producers and let them know my opinion.

I liked the slip-n-slide episode. It showed that even adults can have fun while still getting a good workout.
