Eating a dinner high in protein increases hunger. I will decrease protein intake !!

I THINK I KNOW WHY SOME TIMES I FEEL SO HUNGRY AFTER MY DINNER AT NIGHT (BECAUSE MY DINNER AT NIGHT HAS BEEN TOO HIGH IN PROTEIN)

HELLO ALL:

The good thing about low-carb diet is to do it the right way. And i will do it the right way this time. high protein diets might even trigger and increase hunger. So i think i will make a few arangements. I will decrease my protein-intake a bit, and increase my fat-intake a little bit, in order to do it the right way. And let me give you an example of why eating high-protein increases hunger just like eating high-carb. Last night i had a pancake made with soy protein powder and whey protein powder and some eggs. It had like 80 grams of protein. After i ate it, i still felt real hungry.

So again, i will decrease my protein-intake and increase my fat-intake (keeping calorie intake about the same)

I'm having the opposite effect. My dinner is mostly protein and I could care less about food after (even nauseated some)..

I don't know about the other plans, but Atkins is not high protein, its HIGH FAT. Fat is what satisfies your appetite and keeps you full. Protein is vital for muscle repair, so if you exercise rigorously, you should definitely eat more protein.

But for appetite control and truly satisfying eating, FAT IS WHERE ITS AT. Just remember though, that fat is very calorically dense ... so if you want to restrict calories, just keep that in mind. Personally, I never restricted calories because the fat I eat fills me up and I end up eating less and keeping the weight off easily.

I have this problem sometimes because I am diabetic, and the protein turns to carbs. But, usually if I wait just an hour, I'm not hungry anymore.

If your meal actually was 80 grams of protein, it's not "protein" that makes you hungry but the excess protein that turns to glucose. You might as well be having carbs.

Protein and fats will suppress hunger. When I needed to avoid fats for medical purposes, protein suppressed my hunger effectively. But, as in all things, moderation is key. Although my protein needs are about 85g per day, that's spread over the entire day. Consuming so much protein at one sitting is counter-productive because the excess will turn into glucose, thereby increasing your hunger.

What else is in your pancake? That's a lot of protein one meal. You should be eating a balanced dinner that includes protein, fat and veggies.

HELLO ALL: THANX A LOT FOR YOUR SCIENTIFIC STATEMENTS !!

and yeah, there is some truths in what u just said. I mean that if we eat too much protein at one sitting like 80 to 100 grams, our bodies will turn some of that large protein intake to sugar, which in turn will cause an insulin spike. And i did notice how eating 80 grams of protein in 1 sitting caused an insulin rise in me, because i felt bloated and puffy (Inflamated) around my face.

So again, thank you for taking your time to explain it to me

I easily eat over 100 grams at each meal and again, I am never hungry.
