What 1 reason did U decide 2 go LC? What 1 reason did U decide to stay low carb?

For me, I went low carb to lose weight.

But I decided to stay low carb because of how much better I feel on it than low-fat.

A few years ago, I went LC because I had a food allergy test and everything I ranked highly allergic to were carbs. Once I eliminated all of those things, my arthritis problems and so many other problems just went away. Also, it was the last diet for me to try before WLS.

I stayed LC because it worked and I felt great!

To be honest, I finally tried low carb because I felt I had nothing else to lose - I felt as if I had tried everything else. Plus, a good friend had lost 80 lbs. on it and she sort of "talked" me into it.

3 yrs. later - I still struggle with weight loss but keep going back to LC because I love the food variety, I never have to go hungry, the weight DOES come off and my appetite is almost none! Most of all, I don't feel deprived.

When I went low carb a few years ago I was finaly able to shed the weight, not feel hungry all the time, my moods stablized and could finaly go off anti-depressant medication ( just my own experience, I dont advocate this for anybody else )...well, I dont know if it was pressure to do WW with everyone in my office or what, but I've been on WW for a couple of months and feel terrible! Monday I begin LC again, and this time for life! I guess I just needed to see the other side to convince myself I wasnt missing out on anything, silly I know, but true!

My kids deserved a mom that could keep up with them and would be around a long, long time.

I stayed with it because it's not a diet. It is a way of life and it's a way I can and have sustained. - Add to that that it works and

I just couldn't drop weight any other way.

Thank goodness Atkins, such a satisfying way of eating, is the one thing that worked for me instead of having to resort to programs like ... or ... (use your imagination!). I see my body holding out on me for so many years as a blessing now. Atkins makes it so easy and is so effective that it almost isn't fair.

I first did LC back in 2002 because I was at my wit's end and I was out of ideas to lose weight. I lost 60 pounds successfully and kept it off until I got pregnant with my son in 2006. Then, when he was just 3 months old, I found out I was pregnant again! (oops!) LOL.........

So, after battling some medical issues and the births of my babies, I am doing it again.

I continue to do LC because nothing else takes the weight off, and nothing gets rid of my aches, pains, and sickness better than eating a whole foods, LC lifestyle.

Garbage in........garbage out, my friend

about 20 years a big fat man told me he was going to start doing atkins and he told me about it and I was appalled. I told myself , wow, this guy is really in denial I guess he just wants an excuse to sit around eating pork chops.

Then about 5 years ago, I don't why but I decided to actually READ the book. I'm into science and I can behind something if you tell me the science behind it. So I tried it and it worked great. In fact, it worked *SO* great , for a few years I let myself get lazy and eat crap and gain weight because I now knew the secret for losing it fast.

I'm back on again because I'm dating and want to look good. I decided I'm just going to do this as a way of life now, because like others here have discovered, when I eat a bowl of pasta or some cake, I gain like 5 pounds in a day. Screw that. I'm just doing this now as a way of life.

My horse, my health.
I used to exercise like a mad women, and binge & purge daily, got me overly sensitive teeth and throwing up blood, tried eating low carb, WOW I could eat and be satisfied and for some reason the purging basically ceased, mental issue
once I got to my goal weight I was happy, but then found if I kept eating eggs, fats, protein I kept losing and went down to 125 lbs. ok with me.
So thats what made me stick w/it, eat like a Queen and kept my weight off, and w/the size of my Juniebug (horse) he can only hold so much weight on his back w/saddle included, well like I said before, no want any U shaped back horses in my pasture and I don't

My cousin dropped a butt-load of weight back in... hrm... '03-'04 doing Atkins.
I gained a butt-load of weight in 2005.
In 2006, I decided to actually try dieting (honestly, I'd never really tried before.. like, at all), and went to Atkins.
I've played around some, went off for awhile, but came back for a few reasons.
One is family history of diabetes (don't wanna go down that road). Another is PCOS, and everything I read about PCOS says that a low carb diet will benefit you. Third is because Atkins is sooo much easier for me than anything else I tried during my "playing around" phase last year/this year.

I went to low carb because every time I tried it in the past I would drop weight quickly but someone would always talk me into believing it was unhealthy and I would quit. After being diagnosed with PCOS and metabolic syndrome, I read a number of articles stating that a low carb diet can potentially cure both. I decided low carb was my best chance at a healthy life.

I stuck with it because it worked! I lost the weight and I no longer have any symptoms of PCOS and my blood work is normal. That along with feeling great keeps me lowcarbing.

I went LC because my dad talked me into it. My family always dieted by eating less than 500 calories a day, and I had gained a few pounds my first couple years of college and was about to go back on a starvation diet when my dad said someone he worked with was doing Atkins and lost a lot of weight, that he was doing it and that I should try it to. They tried to also get me to take phen phen, but I was studying to be a molecular biologist and we already guessed that it would cause the body to screw up horribly before the reports came out. At the time I was overweight, not yet obese.

I thought why not give it a try. Sounded a hell of a lot better than my usual starvation diet, and if it didn't work I would be able to put off dieting that much longer.

I coupled Atkins with my usual overly low-calorie, and slightly bulemic diet techniques, and it worked. I really liked the appetite suppression from the ketosis. I lost 40 pounds in 3 months.

I have tried other things since then, but Atkins is the only thing I can stick to. I've taken lots of time off from it, but all I do is gain, quickly or slowly. I've tried many other diets, extreme and moderate, and I don't stick to them at all.

I stick to Atkins because it is the only thing that works for me, and the only thing that ever worked for me that is remotely healthy. I did great on a 300 calorie a day, sleep 14 hours a day plan one summer off from middle school, but that just isn't something I can do anymore. At the very least I will maintain on Atkins, and if I watch my calories and exercise a little I will lose. It's something I can stick with.

I first went low carb (after losing over 100 pounds on Weight Watchers) in order to get over a stall and lose the last little bit.

I kept eating low carb because it just makes me feel good. Carbs weigh me down and make me feel lethargic. I also eat low carb because it forces me to eat non-processed, healthy foods. With Weight Watchers, I was eating a bunch of processed crap.

After the birth of my second child, I did try WW again, but found that I only lost 10 pounds in three months. I then started low carbing and lost the other 40 in about four months. You can't beat that! Low carb all the way!

I started LC because I knew I had a major sugar/carb addiction. I had read the books, and had given LC a half assed attempt before, but it was Southbeach and it just felt like WW all over again.

I read that a lot of diabetics on my different diabetes boards were doing LC dieting and having good success with it. That's where I found out about heavy whipping cream for coffee. Someone said they used that instead of milk since it didn't spike them. From those people I decided maybe LC was the best way to go. I did it and love it.

I started low carb because I was binging on carbs and had packed on enough pounds to make me uncomfortable in my body.

I'm staying low carb because I love eating this way--eating real, rich, whole, fatty food, and you get to feel great/don't have sugar crash at 2pm/don't surreptitiously snack from the white rice in the Chinese take out? I'm a foodie, I'm not eating any fake garbage. Sign me up!

Started because I knew other diets had failed me....staying on, because I truly believe it is the most healthy way of eating and I owe it to my daughter to teach her healthy eating habits (unlike mine growing up). I've stumbled lately, but I'm back on track now that I have realized that I am a role model through my eating and that if I want my daughter to eat well, I must lead by example.

I started bec I went off of my healthier eating plan (modified atkins-lean meats and LC veggies) after I got married last yr (wedding, honeymoon, thanksgiving, hannukah, christmas, new years, etc) and binged on wine, candy, sweets and ice cream and bam! I gained 25lbs...I am hypolgycemic and felt HORRIBLE.

My mother is diabetic and I am terrified of becoming one too so I am here to lose the weight I've gained and to prevent myself from becoming diabetic. I'm hear to stay!

I was losing just fine on low-fat. Then a friend wanted me to be her Atkins Buddy. I was hesitant to switch to a diet of meat & cheese, sure I would gain back the 20 lbs I'd just lost. But I told her I'd try it for a week... Checked DANDR out of the library so I'd know what I was doing, read it and found it made sense. I lost 11.5 lbs on induction and have been LCing ever since.

I started low carb because I know from past experience that nothing else works and nothing else lets you eat yummy glorious food while doing so. I am staying with it this time because going off means gaining every pound back really fast...There is nothing like the controlled feeling low carb gives you.

Hi, I'm new, Angie. I have PCOS and have decided to go low carb because I feel like it's the only way I will lose weight, and I know I'm addicted to carbs. I went on Met and started working out 30-60 minutes 5-6x per week and after 3 months, I lost a total of ZERO. It's just got to be all the carbs, so I'm really hoping this works!!

Getting the hang of things around here, and hoping that with motivation, I can kick this addiction!

i started it because i did lots of research on diets and came to the conclusion that one based around meat/veg/fat was the healthiest. i stay on atkins because i feel like i control my food and not that the food controls me, and it makes me feel better (i have 2 autoimmune diseases)

I had lost about 30 lbs on WW and then just stalled no matter what. In 2002 my sister had mentioned Atkins and how a friend had lost weight. I got the book and started to read and it just clicked. I am a total carb addict - not sugar but starch. It worked - I felt great and I continue because of that.

Lost my eyesight with a blood sugar level of 600+. Diabetes. Diabetes forums show low carb is the way to go even though it is the total opposite of what the American Diabetes Association recommends. By low carbing, I was off insulin within 2 weeks. I'm in this for life, literally.
