I was a skeptic of the whole LC thing. Then I 're-met' my boyfriend. We'd gone to college together and graduated seven years ago by the time our paths crossed again. He was always a big guy in college, but I thought he was sweet and smart and nice and yes, I had a crush on him. So anyway, the internets brought us back together (in the form of Match.com, actually). When I saw him seven years after we'd graduated, he'd lost A LOT of weight (roughly 175 pounds). He lost it through Atkins and some exercise. He was still about 100 pounds from his goal, but the difference was amazing. I've never been heavy, per se (I'm tall, so that helps disguise most of it), but I was heavier than I'd ever been in my life (180 and creeping up). I watched how he ate, we talked a lot about the WOE and the lifestyle, and I decided to try it for myself. I went from a size 14/16 to a 5/6-7/8. And I'm still 10 pounds from my goal. So, that's my LC story.

And I wanted to add, God Bless you all, who are in this for your lives. It's not always easy, but at the end of the day, it's worth it. So pat yourselves on the backs. You're making a wonderful choice to take control of your lives and be proactive.

Take care!!

for 2 obvious reasons:

1) to lose weight 2) large portions. but also there is more: to get off medication for diabetes & blood pressure. I take about 1/2 of that with which i had begun. That is measureable progress. Also, I had deliberately veered away from on-plan eating after foot surgery. I got back on & doing fine. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI.

It was just another diet I decided to try. I stayed because it worked when other diets did not. I wasn't starving or suffering like on other diets. I still miss bread but it is a small price to pay.

Considering what so many of went through before we found low carb, I'd say it's plenty fair.

(But I know what you're saying, and I agree!)

I Went LC to get rid of cravings and constant hunger.
I stayed LC because I love eating real food that is satisfying and nourishing.

I started because I was fat and it seemed to be a way of eating that would allow me to eat freely. also as i have a gluten allergy anyway.
I stayed because I like the food and the alternative stinks....
Sorry that's probably more reasons than you asked for.

I just love how "deflated" I feel when on LC. It truly takes all bloat away and makes you feel so good. and satisfied.

Start Date: 10/26/08
This is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me, used to be 220lbs and am now 164 still need to lose about 30lbs but I know from past experience that if I commit again to this WOE it WILL come off.

I feel so terrible when I eat carbs and it becomes such a vicious roller coaster that is so hard to get off. I hope with this board I can get back to LCing and feel good again!!

I chose low carb because it seemed doable. I lost 25 pds twice and got pregnant twice. I think the weight loss helped with my fertility too. Anyway, I am now doing it for me and for life. The bloating, lack of energy, sugar/carb attacks are gone.

I stay low carb because it works!!
