Been at a stall, but I know what my problem was.
Notice I say WAS! I am not falling into these traps anymore!
Peanut freaking butter and beef jerky! God, I have been addicted to those for about a MONTH now! With both I have severe control issues. I decided to use Mydailyplate.com to record ONE day and in just peanut butter alone I consumed FOURTEEN CARBS!! Lesson learned. Although I am craving some beef jerky. I just won't buy it anymore. Plus it was EXPENSIVE!! But, man it's SOOO Good. |

I make beef jerky - we eat it a lot. It's cheaper to buy the dehydrator and make it yourself than it is to buy the good stuff without preservatives and sugars, which I think last time I DID buy it was more than $16/lb. plus shipping.
What I make hasn't any sugar in it so it's totally OK for LC. I bought a Nesco Snackmaster dehydrator on Amazon for under $35 delivered. I KNOW it's paid for itself already! ![]() But good for you to figure out what your problem foods were - I bet you see a good whoosh here soon!

The really rotten thing about Peanut Butter is that if you weigh it on a food scale, you'll discover that the portion size that corresponds to the label in grams is MUCH smaller than the 2 tbs that is also listed as a portion size!
So I figured out that I was eating about 300 calories of PB every time I thought I was eating 200. And if you do that a couple times a day and have a fairly low metabolic rate you will run into trouble. |

I just use a really low oven to make my beef jerky. I keep an eye on it, and it works just fine. Plus, one less kitchen gadget--I have enough. Lemme say though, I loved that episode of "good eats" as well, and almost went out and assembled the whole gizmo, but then thought--I could do this a whole lot easier if I slapped my oven on warm, put the strips of beef on parchment paper or a rack in a baking sheet, and let it go. Takes about five hours, with a poke of the head in the oven with corresponding wangling of the beef to make sure it's dry.
I use eye of round cut for korean bbq, then there's no slicing, which is a PITA. I marinate in all kinds of things, most recently soy sauce, a dab of worcestershire, bit of dry mustard, and smoked paprika--that was amazingly good, my partner snarfed most of it without me. |

I just don't even dare have peanut butter in the house. It's okay if I include it as part of something else - like to fill in the slot in celery or something. It's the other times. The jar and spoon times that are the problem. The times when I might as well toss the lid away as soon as I pop it off, because I won't be needing that again.

Only eat it when hungry, too? Cutting food out totally for most people just kind of promotes a diet mentality that is destructive... It sounds like you might have a problem with salty food. Maybe buying unsalted PB is the ticket? |

Yup, the peanut butter has bitten the hand that eats it around here too!
![]() My main problem is I just sneak a few licks off the spoon when I'm making sammies for the family. I probably end up eating 1/4 cup...but I don't know cuz I don't measure. My knew rule is if I eat peanut butter, it will ONLY be in measured portions. NO free licks! I started last night when I made a sandwich for DH...no PB for me yesterday and I'm so glad! Deff don't need those extra carbs right now.

The last time I was low carbing I bought beef jerky at cosco and I loved it but it did derail me..I think I need to stay away from it.. But it's sooooo good..

Another PB junky here!!! I have been "stuck" for months and finally realized I needed to go back and do a clean induction and stay away from LC "treats" for awhile. Putting my foods into fitday was a real eye opener for me as well Glad you figured it out ![]() |

I'm a peanut butter addict, so I have to be really careful. I've actually been eating PB2's powdered peanut butter because the carb count and calories is lower...and it tastes just like peanut butter! It was made for us pb addicts that find it hard to stick to 2 tablespoons.

I don't even go near regular peanut butter. Natural peanut butter keeps me more on track. Because it isn't sweet, it really fills you up and doesn't make me want to eat a bunch more.
