Just...Wow!
Shameless self promotion to follow...
![]() I woke up this morning and weighed 168.6. My high weight 4 years ago was 248. It occurred to me this morning that that is 80 pounds gone. (!) Wow! I lost the first 12 just watching calories - It took about 5 months and I got tired of it and stopped trying to loose until January of 2007 when I restarted Atkins. I am just blown away by 80#. In the past year I have "only" lost 16 pounds - but two dress sizes. I am okay with being a slow loser. Any progress is progress and today I am just sitting back and staggered by the sum total of that pokey progress.

Congratulations! Took me a year to lose 50 pounds, about a pound a week. Slow, but sure!!! I am always amazed at threads where people say they "lost 32 pounds in 3 weeks" and that sort of stuff. That isn't going to happen with us.
Hats off and a salute to slow losers!!!!! Hang in there, you are doing a great job! |

this post brought a tear to my eyes just now...
I can totally empathise with you.. isn't 80lbs so amazing? as of today I hit my new lowest weight ever too! and gues what? its 80lbs from my high weight! and I honestly think we have alot in common, your story sounds something like mine.. july 4th 2005 I was 227lbs and i did everything to try to lose, from starving myself, fad diets, diet pills.. im in an amazing place today.. I don't care if it takes another year for me to get down to 140lbs.. cause every pound I lose from today on is like my lowest weight ever since like being born lmao

Me too! Slow loser... it's taken me almost two years and a lot of consistancy and effort to lose somewhere between 70-80 pounds...

![]() ![]() ![]() What amazes me is when we look at that amount of weight separate from our bodies. My chestnut tree dropped a HUGE number of nuts and I picked up as many as I could in a shopping bag. I was a LOT and it was heavy. I wanted to know how many pounds it was so I weighed myself, then I weighed myself holding that bad of nuts. When I looked down at the number, it looked SO familiar. That's how much I weighed a few weeks ago! The nuts weighed as much as I had lost, 12 pounds. Then my son handed me a 20 lb dumb bell and wow, it feels heavy. So Sarah, if you can imagine lifting 80 pounds of something... then realize that is how much you LOST! I can't imagine how good that must feel. It is so wonderful and exciting to read about other people's successes. Keep up the good work!
