Vitamin water... a force for evil

While grocery shopping this weekend, my DD10 asked for "vitamin water". I am trying to model healthy eating, so she probably thought this was a good idea. I told her no, because she gets plenty of vitamins in the food she eats and plain water is the healthiest drink. But then I looked and it was on sale for a dollar so I bought two. I mean water? Vitamins? What's the harm, right?

I got it home and took a closer look. The $#%^$% was all sugar. Vitamin water my butt!! Carbo water crapola is more like it.

DD10 almost got to see my head explode. I don't think she'll be asking for that crap again anytime soon. On the positive side, it was a good lesson on how to read labels (which I should have done at the store, yeah I know. blah blah blah). I showed her how to find the carbs and the sugars and how to read the ingredients to find stuff ending in -ose. I also explained that the ingredients are listed in order. So FRUCTOSE being the second ingredient was not a good thing.

Two dollars down the rat-hole.

Almost all of the flavored water has carbs...propel....snapple....vitamin water....powerade options.....the only sports type drink that I have found that has 0 carbs is powerade zero

Powerade zero is pretty good.
Also, I really, REALLY like the metromint waters -- they're tasty.

also there are 2.5 servings per bottle. So that 13g of sugar is really 32.5

I wish there was a law or something against deceptive labeling. It makes you believe it is good for you but you might as well drink a coke and take a multivitamin
