good news:

autumn begins 11:45am eastern time. I am so overjoyed. No more high electric bills. I have the fan going 6" from my face the minute I get in to the minute I leave. Soon, I will be able to turn it off & leave it off. It is time to start cooking again, once the house cools off. I think i will make some hearty soups this year. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI.

Autumn? AUTUMN? ::laughs hysterically:: We never had any bloody summer yet! I'm just a couple of degrees away from wearing my winter coat and I've had a hot water bottle in bed a couple of times in the last week. No fair!

Just what we need. All the gas and electric prices going up and winter setting in early. We're all doomed.

We had a very crappy summer here in Montreal. I think I used the pool twice all summer, and both times the water was cold. It's already cold in the mornings, need a sweater/jacket, and at night. Maybe winter's coming early this year. Winter is MY high electric bill season grrrrr.

It's been a cool summer here in New England as well. A FEW hot days, but not many. I love cold weather, and am looking forward to winter.

If it is any comfort, this morning's Telegraph said it would be a warm, dry autumn in England.

Ah well, let's hope the winter coat can wait until November then. It has been a little warmer the last couple of days, though still very gloomy and grim.

My favorite time of year too!!! From Holloween all the way through New Year's is one big happy holiday as far as I'm concerned. Can't wait to go hiking in the mountains!!! Bean soup and burgandy oven stew! Apple pie and pumpkin pie! Spiced apple cider and eggnog!

I better get to work figuring out how to low carb my favorite fall recipes!!!

Blaine (from Fit TV Blaine's Low Carb Kitchen) did a wonderful low carb Thanksgiving dinner on episode 20:

FitTV :: Blaine's Low Carb Kitchen :: Recipe Index

Flatferenghi - where are you? or at least what region?

I'm working in South Korea right now and to hear the word Autumn is just beyond bizzare to me. It's like 30 degrees out ( I think that's about 85-ish in fahrenheit (sp?) with about 90% humidity. My electric bills the past few months have been almost doubled.. Mom in Vancouver says it's getting nice and 'crisp' out. I just can't wait to move home in December, if for nothing else just because there's (almost) nothing I love more than a perfect pair of jeans and a hoodie! A cup of creamy coffee, a blanket, and a movie... omg.. Seriously not a fan of summer.

You said it! . I totally agree! Us Floridians usually look forward to the weather change, lol. When I am rich one day I will have a summer home outside of FL, like the smokey mountains, or NC. Hey...I can dream..

I too am delighted to feel fall coming. My electric bill should be much more manageable without the AC running day and night. Love the cool season here in So. Cal. cause it's still warm in the daytime but nights are nice and crisp.

LOL we had frost (32F) 2 weeks ago.

It might snow this afternoon......

Our leaves pretty much all fell last week, but we did have some unseasonably warm days! Funny to see my kids playing in piles of leaves in their shorts LOL

Halloween sux because the kids have to wear winter clothing over or under their costumes.... Cinderella wearing a toque is pretty hilarious

ETA: I used my A/C for 3 days this summer My furnace was turned on 3 weeks ago.

When I was really heavy, I dreaded summer...heat is not a fat girls friend! Especially humid Seattle in the summertime. When I'd lost all the weight I loved summer and the heat was no longer a problem....this year, I've put back 30#'s of the 70#'s I lost, and definitely felt uncomfortable even with the mild summer...time to get serious again!

I am actually excited for the first time ever, because I have a CLOSET FULL of fall/winter clothing that I have not worn for almost 2 years!!

Plus I have a brand new leather jacket hubby bought me this summer... another 10lbs and I am going to take the tags off of it!

A year ago today I was 9 months pregnant and well over 230lbs.

I'm soooooo ready for autumn!

It means that the hot sticky summer of Houston will become a less hot and less sticky fall AND it means that the end of hurricane season is on the way.

Up north, I remember the amazing colors of fall - the crispness of the air - ahhhhhh, memories.

LOL my average utility bills for last winter were $450/month (power/gas) and this summer was $250.

We are on fixed rates, so it is higher than most right now, but the savings will come as the price of gas goes up.

We usually have two days of Spring and two days of Autumn here...mostly hot and humid or cold and rainy the other 361 days. I can't wait for the cooler/cold weather.

Here in Arizona the first day of Autumn on the calendar is sort of meaningless. Our daytime highs are still over 100 and overnight low was 78 last night. Every morning I stick my nose out the door waiting for that cool, crisp air to hit me. Of course when I say cool and crisp I am talking about 68 degrees! It is really not until late October and into November that we get real fall weather.

I LOVE fall and winter - so not a summer person at all. It's in the 70's today in NC and I'm loving it - can't wait to wear a sweater & cut off the air conditioning.

Here in BC, our summer didn't really start until the middle of August, so I feel we got cheated this year. Thankfully so far its been sunny, if cooler but the rains will start any day and continue until spring. I live on Vancouver Island, and some years we get a ton of snow, some years none, but its always cold and damp. I'm annoyed that the local wood lot where I've been getting my firewood for the last 10 years changed ownership and the new owners aren't allowing anybody to come and get wood (only drop it off for $25/load) because they make money chipping it and selling it as hog fuel. I have no idea where I'm going to get more wood, as using the electric heaters is ridiculously expensive. If the weather could just stay a balmy 75-80 year around I'd be ecstatic

I just want to live somewhere where fall looks like this....

But hey, DF and I will be going to stay in a log cabin in the mountains somewhere for our honeymoon next year! I already told him I may not want to come back once we get there.

Well....in Vegas, we've been HOT. Monsoon season was horrible and humid as usual too. Right now the weather is beautiful. Our highs are only in the low 90's now. Yippeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ended our summer with a 5 mile hike in Zion National Park (Southern Utah) - it was gorgeous.

I just hate the cold though. It'll start getting real cold in January (highs in the 50's) and then I will want Spring and Summer all over again.
