CHICKEN FRIED BACON
This is what the State Fair of Texas is having this year.
They take raw bacon and dip it in flour and then dip it in egg and milk and then dip it back in the flour and deep fry it. They are charging 5 dollars for a basket with just a few pieces. I wonder if we can make it with almond flour or parmesan cheese or both mixed together. Any ideas? |

Try it with crushed pork rinds... I've fried chicken that way.
![]() Bacon coated in pork rinds and deep fried sounds pork-tastic!!!! I love bacon any way I can get it though -- so much so that I dressed as bacon for Halloween last year!! |

I loved that costume... since I've moved to a new city and I still have it, I may dress as bacon again this year... no one here has seen it before. But let me tell you, I went on a pub crawl last year dressed as bacon and there's nothing like a bunch of drunks yelling "BACON!" at you as you walk into a bar...lol

Yes, I made the bacon costume.
I tried to convince my boyfriend that he needed to be eggs, or at the very least, a stack of pancakes, but he's shy so he wasn't havin' it. ![]() And some people thought I was Gumby!! I can see the resemblance except for the fact that, you know, Gumby is green...lol |

What about dredging it in Carbquik or that Carbalose Flour? I would think that Parmasan cheese w/salty bacon would be asking for major water bloat, but dag it sounds YUM

Yup, I got my costume from that link... I bought two sheets of 6'X2' foam at the craft store, trimmed it (I'm really short!), cut a hole in one for the face, and painted it. I used velcro to keep the sides together.

Ooh, you were able to keep it together with just velcro? That doesn't sound too bad. I may have to give this more thought. I haven't dressed up for halloween since I was a teen.
![]() Fawn, I still haven't used the deep fryer my best friend got me for my birthday last month, in spite of ordering some grass-fed beef tallow for it. I'm thinking deep fried green beans. Maybe once it gets colder. |

I glued the edges together above the shoulders, and added velcro to each side under the arms. It was starting to fall apart by the time Halloween week was over last year, but it made it through work, a pub crawl, and two costume contests. If I wear it again this year, I'll have to re-glue the velcro.
