Would You Still Eat A Frozen Egg?
Sometimes our eggs freeze if pushed back to far in the fridge. Doesn't matter if we turn down the fridge or not!
Would you still eat a frozen egg? I hard boiled a few as they never seemed to thaw out! |

I froze some accidentally once and they don't thaw even once out the fridge. It obviously does something irreversible to them. I never thought of hardboiling them though. Gotta be worth a try. Report back if still alive.

I freeze eggs when the chickens are laying well so I'll have them for recipes when the chickens are "resting". You can freeze them whole, but it's not recommended as they go sort of "gooey". I lightly beat a dozen raw eggs with a fork, and add a pinch of salt, then freeze them in a shallow pan. When frozen, I cut them into 2 egg squares, wrap tightly and put back in freezer. To use them, I thaw them in the fridge overnight (they will still be semi-solid at that point). But they do well in any recipe. I don't use them to make omeletts or scrambled eggs as they have lumps in them I don't care for. But they are great in any baked goods (flax bread, for instance).
If I had any freeze accidentally, I'd thaw in shell. They tend not to return to a fully liquid state after frozen, but are fine for recipes.
