Cod Liver Oil

Hi!

So, I've been reading about the benefits of cod liver oil and decided to get some to give it a try. I went to Whole Foods yesterday to pick some up and saw the Carlson's brand on the shelf. I grabbed the smaller of the two bottles available, which was about $26, but then as I walked down the aisle further I saw some marketed for children (cuter, cartoonish fish on the front). The bottle was the same size, the ingredients exactly the same. As I looked at the recommended dosages the adult's bottle had 1 Tsp listed and had the vitamins/minerals listed for that amount, the children's bottle had 1/4 to 1/2 Tsp listed and the vitamins/minerals listed for that amount which were exactly 1/4 to 1/2 of the amounts on the adult bottle--so the potency must be the same. But the same sized bottle of the children's CLO was only $15! I went ahead and bought the children's bottle--hey, I'm a kid at heart anyway!

Anyone have a similar experience or take the children's variety?

Katie

Ugh - cod liver oil. Can't say I've ever willingly made that purchase.

I remember reading that men's toiletries cost about 20% less than women's, and when I started comparing I found a notable difference. Now I buy men's stuff when it makes sense. The rationale is that women will spend more on this category than will men. Perhaps the cost difference between the two brands you compared has similar reasoning behind it?

You need to order it online, I believe Netrition carries it at a much cheaper price than that! I also use Carlson's, I think I paid around $23 for a 16 oz. bottle of lemon flavored CLO.

I agree with Janette. Whole Foods supps are so terribly expensive. And they have buying power so it doesn't have to be.............

I got my Carlsons at fitrx for $15.96. I can't believe how much the other stores are marking this up.
