How Can you increase fat intake without...

increasing carbs and protein?

I see alot of posts saying don't eat too much protein and those who follow a high fat, moderate protein, low carb WOE. How in the world do you increase the fats withuot increasing the other two?

If you eat nuts for the fat you have to deal with the carbs and calories
Heavy Cream............ lots of calories
adding butter to meats.................... lots of protein

Am I missing something here? Please post how one increases fat without increasing carbs and protein. TIA

I just add fat such as butter, cream, evoo, etc... Yes it is going to add calories, at least a 100 per condiment, but I am cutting back on protein so it balances itself out, as well as carbs... I track everything in Fitday....haven't tracked for a while because of a blackout, but you can take a look at last week to see how it looked... You are right, however, it does take a bit of tweaking to keep the calories in my 1500-1800 range!

Hi meeha...
I never have (or needed to) count calories and many here use coconut oil to up fat without the other substances you listed. My wife and I eat low carb not low fat.

There are a number of people on here who don't track their calories... I just have a difficult time losing so I am tracking my calories to make sure I am eating enough...and make sure my macros are correct following EFGT.

My favourite delcious source of extra fat without adding much carbs or protein is pate.

Here in the UK you get many varieties such as chicken liver pate with mushrooms, or with port and spices, etc. Very nice even on its own.

I love Pate! And Liverwurst and any liver-sausage!
But I add fat by adding Olive Oil into my diet...saute veggies or in my salads

I use olive oil a lot. 1 tablespoon quickly adds in 14g of fat. I drizzle it over my food. On salads I add 2 tablespoons. On meals only 1 tablespoon. That's in addition to any fat that it was cooked with or any other items that include fat. Over a day it adds up. I am not really a big mayo/red meat person so it's difficult for me. I seem to be sticking to oils, nuts (walnuts/almonds), butters (peanut, raw almond) and avocados. I try to limit the nut items though. Oil is my #1.

Fats do have a lot of calories, but they fill you up so much you can easily eat less. Most still do have to avoid going over board on cream, cheese, butter etc, but some should be added to a diet like Atkins. Overboard means a stick of butter for desert, or eating an entire block of cheese. I track what I eat so I make sure I am in the range I want. Doesn't have to be perfect everyday, just say between 800 and 1800 cals, and 50% to 85% fat. The carbs I watch closely though. 10 - 20 after fiber subtraction.
