Odd feeling of guilt
The past few days have been an adventure in food in a disaster zone, but I'd gone in prepared.
Friday dinner - mil (mother in law) - wanted frozen strawberries and peaches and tomatoes with roast beef and lf turkey w/ nf mayo on white bread. I was a bit at odds with her meal so I had a package of smoked oysters and sour cream with pork rinds, sliced tomato & sliced radishes....YUMMO Saturday - mil - toast and coffee; me - nectar protein with a blend of chocolate and almond milk with HWC. She didn't eat lunch, so I had scotch egg and some more radishes. Then we had grilled burgers with all the works with bread for her and oopsies for me. Sunday - mil - coffee only - me - nectar protein with a blend of chocolate and almond milk with HWC. We decide to head off to Dallas to get dry ice so she packed luncheon meant, cheese and bread, plus mayo. She had a normal sammy and I had an oopsie sammy. And on the way home we stopped at Sams where she ate breaded and fried stuff - looked amazing, but not worth it. I discovered smoked chicken and ummmm....smoked chicken. I did have a piece of good watermelon since i figured carb count would be effective. Monday - mil - coffee only - me - nectar protein with a blend of chocolate and almond milk with HWC. Lunch was another scotch egg for me and a cheese sammy for her. Dinner was diff as well. She had a wonderful soup offered by the neighbors but full of pasta and corn. I had a tin of smoked oyesters with sour cream and pork rinds. Tuesday - I tried to go into the office but wasn't abel to eat or keep thigs down from the stress. I'm not going back into the office until Monday when normal operations start. Dinner was sauteed garlic, onions, green pepper, celery, chives and parsley sauteed in olive oil and butter. Then I cooked the shrimp with salt, pepper & foxpoint seasonings (salt, freeze-dried shallots, chivea, garlic, onion, green peppercorn) flamed white wine, then thickened it up with HWC. Then today, I had the shake, lunch was homeade pimento cheese on pork rinds, and dinner was a bacon wrapped filet and avocados w/ a mayo/lemonjuice/garlic/salt/pepper dressing. In retrospect, it's a bit of guilty feeling knowing how well I ate, given the circumstances.

Wow. Amazing job not stress/junk eating. It's amazing in times of stress how *helpful* it can be to remain LC. I know for me I can handle stress better when my blood sugar isn't all wonky.
Saying prayers for you and yours! kbeth |
