Stevia packets
So, I just bought some....now what do I do with them???? I've seen so many recipes that look good, but call for splenda..
![]() . I tasted the stevia right out of the packet and I didn't get the yucky taste coating my mouth that I've gotten with all other sugar substitutes I've tried. Can I sub the stevia for splenda in recipes? Do I use the same amount? I'm not a sweets eater so I'm looking to use this in the more savory dishes....i.e., BBQ's and Asian style...Thanks, Michelle ![]()

You can try, just go light on the stevia. A little goes a LONG way and over used it can go bitter.
I mostly use it in smoothies and meringues. Do your packets have starchy fillers? I usually use the liquid because all the packets I have found have starch just like artificial sweeteners. |

Yep, I agree with b lou who...a little goes a long way. In savory recipes I've used the same amount of Stevia that I used to of Splenda. I think it may be a little stronger, but the Atkins Korean skirt steak that I love calls for one pack of sweetener and so I threw in the whole pack of Stevia and it was great.

Thank you. I don't know if there are any starchy fillers...The packets came from a local Health Food Store and were not in a box...just in a plastic bag.. I'll have to check next time to see if they have the liquid. I'm looking forward to trying some recipes now that I seem to have found an AS that doesn't taste bad to me...I've always been soooo sensitive to them. Kbeth, I looked up the recipe for the skirt steak....it sounds delicious!!

Oh yeah...I could eat that skirt steak every week. I always double it so I can have leftovers. Last time I used the leftovers in beef fried "rice." I was surprised at how good that came out!
