Sugar Free Energy Drinks?

I was extreeeemely tired after not sleeping last night and I had to be awake and lively to help my BF do some very important heavy lifting/construction work sooo I went to the convenience store and saw this can of 'SOBE ENERGY--ADRENALINE RUSH'. It then said sugar free on top.

I was fascinated since Id never had any energy drink before, thinking they were full of sugar.

I looked on the ingredients list and noticed it had 1 carb per serving and 10 calories. 2 servings per can.

The sweetener used is sorbitol.

Anyone else drinkt hese eneergy drinks? If so , which ones do you recommend?? I DID get a MAJOR burst of adrenaline by the way and was able to help bf shelp stuff for almost 3 hours! My eyeballs were almost poppin out of my head too.lol

I dont drink them everyday or anything, but i work 12 hr night shifts twice per week so i do occasionally stop and grab one on my way in. CVS has the Monster Zero Carb which has a grape soda-ey but kinda citrusy vibe. Quite yummy. Red bull makes a sugar free too, but i hate the taste of red bull. Convenience stores have lots of sugar free ones usually. You have to try different because they range from cherry syrup tasting to mountain dew tasting and every taste in between. I do like the Monster Zero Carb a lot though--it comes in a blue can.

This one tasted like orange/grapefruit juice. NO aftertaste. I really did like it.

I might have these 'on occasion' when I need a BOOST.hehe

Oh, also if you like Fresca--which i L-O-V-E!! There is an Archer Farms one at Target which is sugar free and tastes just like a fresca. I usually grab a couple of those if happen by them at Target. Yummy. And i never notice an aftertaste or anything...i just hate that cherry syrup mediciney taste that Red Bull is so loved for.

I like the SOBE sugar free drink. It does have a ton of caffeine in it, so I only use it before my running races .. it helps me run FASTER ! (well before I had my foot operated on, that is!)

Take it from a night shift girl X 15 yrs. I lay off if i get that jittery feeling, but i hardly ever do unless i am just drinking sodas nonstop all night. But then again, i could drink an energy drink with a coffee chaser on the way home and still be asleep within 5 minutes of my head hitting the pillow so i may be the wrong girl to ask.

the one I am hooked on is SF AMP, it is like the rest of them... strong flavor (more of a sipping drink) and caffeine as well as some other vitamins and supplements. I think this one is about like drinking a couple diet Cokes as far as the caffeine goes.

I am going to stop in the morning and see if I can locate a Monster Zero.

Speaking of ZERO, I am hooked on Powerade Zero... mainly the blue mixed berry ones. I have one of the big 32 ounce ones and another 32 ounces of water at my tennis sessions. The sodium in it seems to help me hold a bit more of the water in my body (or slows the dehydration anyway...). I am also hooked on the other ZERO offerings like Fanta Orange and Vanilla Diet Coke. Not all the time, but I just like them as almost a dessert... keeps the sweet tooth at bay.

Is the Monster zero carb new? I only heard of Monster Low Carb which has glucose in it and is supposed to taste like bubble gum. I used to love grape soda so if there was a new one I would love to know

I heard the MONSTER ones are good too. I did a search for 'energy drink reviews' and got a LOT of help. WOw they make a ton of those things!

I might be more inclined to drink them if they werent so damm expensive though. I wonder if you can get them in a 6 pack or something?

((Hi SweetasSplenda!.Ill be coming to Knoxville next weeek IF the darn gas prices go down! How are you dealing with those gas prices??)) SOrry to go off topic.

It's awful, gas shot up 50cents/gallon to five bucks a gallon yesterday! We have a hybrid but we're still feeling it! (We're in Maryville now, still get to Knoxville once or twice a week).

/end threadjack

Oh, ok, I didn't think Monster made a zero carb but I was hoping! I will have to try that Rockstar one then. Have you heard of Full Throttle zero carb (I think that's what it's called...) it has a "green" taste kinda like...grass almost! But it's also sweet...

Oh, and Michelle, you can find a lot of energy drinks in 4 packs, but unfortunately you don't save anything to buy them that way...they are like 8 bucks at least.

I have tried that Full Throttle Fury one in low carb or sugar free or whatever. It was really good but i think i have never seen it again. They are very elusive...

I wonder, if those are sweetened with aspartame? I bought them back when I was still drinking it and now I mostly use stevia and occasionally Splenda. Full Throttle fury, hmm I haven't heard of that. Sounds good!

the monster zero carb are gooood. I hate the way redbull tastes like a multivitamin. The monster drinks taste like a citrus fruit soda.

I must have I bought the wrong Monster and didn't realize until I had finished the can! It was 3 carbs per serving and of course there were 2 in the can... oh well, I will check out the rock star and keep with my AMP.

On a side note, has anyone tried Airforce Nutri Soda? They carry these at the local Ingles near me and I really like the flavors. There are only a couple that aren't 0 carbs, they are chock full of vitamins.

I tried ROCKSTAR today and even though it was ZERO carbs I preferred the taste and effect of the ADRENALINE RUSH by SOBE.

THe taste of the Sobe one was like a fruit juice. NO aftertaste but it had 1 carb per serving x two servings.

Bad for your adrenals too-keeps the body stimulated in the fight or flight mode. I'm sticking with coffee.

I noticed in late August, when the school supplies were taking over the aisles in the big stores... there were case lots of Red Bull, Rock Star etc. EVERYWHERE amongst the papers, pens and binders.

A lot of schools around here are banning them, good idea IMO.

Fine for adults, but kids and teens??
