Home made protein and fiber bars.

Hi everyone- I've been lurking for about 3 months and just started posting. Like most of you, I am now making almost all my own food.

PROBLEM- I LOVE those spcial K chocolaty bars with 10 grams of protein. I also really like those fiber one bars. If I had something like that LC to eat for breakfast that would solve a lot of my problems.

I was going to set out invent my own bar and figured I would check here first for ideas or if someone already had something like that. I do know about Atkins bars and I discovered Pure Protein bars which aren't bad but I figured if I could make my own why not have Protein AND toss in some fiber. It seems like with the store bought ones you have to choose one or the other.

They would be best if they were chewy - that's what I like so much about the special K bars, they are chewy and chocolaty.

Some starting ideas I had were - something along the lines of those candied nuts? With maybe egg white or some kind of powdered egg white or protein powder. When I was reading about glycerin I thought that might be the key to making them chewy. I just have the general loose idea in my head but no idea how to make them. Has anyone done this yet?

Thank you in advance.

Oh and I could put coconut oil in them to. I know I was going to take a weekend one time and totally research it but I haven't had the time yet. Just wondered if anyone here was already making something like that.

If you search on here for Lara Bars, you should find a recipie to make a low carb bar that sounds amazing. I haven't made them yet, but you should be able to make them yourself.
