Sheila - I am going to try that Deep Cleansing Oil wash.
I use variety too - Cetaphil, Oil of Olay, or Neutrogena products. |

I'm not sure of the exact name, but I get the Walmart "squares". They come in a plastic box, they are folded into quarters. You take them out and wet them, then use it to clean your face.
I use the "Oily Skin" formulation. They work great and only cost $3.57 for 30. The label is purple. |

I have an oily and sensitive face, and I love a good jojoba oil to cleanse with when my skin is particularly oily and unhappy. Also cetaphil cleanser for sensitive skin, followed with Thayers Rose Toner. The cetaphil is'nt the greatest cleanser, but it is nice and mild and the toner helps clean any left over dirt away.
As an aside, a great product to help mask the oil is Monistat Antichafing gel You can find it in drug stores near feminine products and maybe deodorants. The main ingredient in it is dimethicone, which is used in a lot of what are called makeup "primers", but this stuff is much less expensive. I swear by it and it really works to help with the oilies! I found this tip on a spa/skincare board.I first use a moisturizer, like jojoba, let it sink into my face for 10 min or so, blot away any excess oil, then apply a really super thin layer of the monistat all over my face. It's the first time in my life I can wear eye shadow without it creasing into an oily line in an hour. You might test an area first before using it all over the face. hope this might help ![]()

My skin is weird. If I use oily or acne products my skin dries up. And if I use products for dry skin my face gets all oily from the added moisturizers. If I get combo skin products NOTHING happens. Not good or bad. Just nothing. I've tried so many products from low $$ to high $$.
The only thing that is now working and I absolutely LOVE is NEUTROGENA DEEP CLEAN GENTLE SCRUB. My skin feels so soft right after. And it never irritates or peels. I should add that during the same time that I started to use Neutrogena I also started atkins, started to occassionally take coconut oil and now take vitamins (including biotin) every single day. That might also have something to do with the sudden glow of my skin. I get comments all the time. They can tell the difference. |

I've tried a ton of things over the years for my adult acne and melasma, sun-damaged problem skin!
The past six months my skin has improved so much, I get a lot of compliments. This is what I credit: 1) No more soy! I cut all soy and the melasma disappeared and my breakouts went wayyyy down. 2) Neutrogena acne stress cleanser and moisturizer. Both contain sacyclic acid (to get deep in the pores) along with aloe and chamolile to calm skin. They don't overdry skin or irritate it, which for me makes breakouts worse. 3) Lots of water, exercise, sleep (wish I had more of that) and sunscreen every day. Oh yeah, and retin a every night. Good luck! You might try reading the Skin Solution, it outlines different skin types and makes suggestions on good products |

anyone have any otc way to cure or help cystic acne. I am guessing thats what is happening to my chin and around my mouth. I guess I am paying for the fairly decent skin I had as a teen because its so bad now.
I've had one bump on my chin for a couple of months and now another one has shown up. These are deep under the skin they never surface they are just tender and one looks like it has a lot of dry skin (carpet burn) lol because I've tried everything to get rid of it. Its not that obvious with makeup on but without it looks bad. I also got a bump in my ear all of a sudden. It is TOM time so I guess its hormones as I mentioned before. I bought some kind of pills today at the store for woman (before, during and after menopause) I'm 32. Last edited by Lickrish : 09-12-2008 at 09:03 PM. |
