WOE: Egg Fast & Atkins
Just had my 1st Egg cream

Good morning everyone. I can't stand breakfast & keep on falling of the Atkins wagon, not on purpose it's just because I'm not prepared. Anyway, after reading a TON of Egg cream threads last night I decided to make one today.
I'm a big baby & still unprepared, so I used what I had. I'm still scared of the raw egg thing but went or it anyway. It seems like most people do well with them & love the way they taste.

1 eas choc shake
1 egg
1 tb evco

I was really good, didn't taste eggy, stringy etc. It was hard to get down tho & felt full before finishing it. I am going to drink one every day for a while.

Please post your fave egg cream recipies & results.

thanks !

I don't add any extra protein to my shakes, just 2-3 eggs, usually 3, a splash of cream, decaf coffee and a splash of SF sweetener, blend and pour over ice, just like an iced coffee with cream from SBs. Love them though, keeps me full for hours.

Hey thanks!

What about the evco in the egg cream?

How has your weight loss been with these egg creams opposed to the eggs/bacon breakfast?

I personally don't do them-I can drink these and still eat breakfast. They are good for a snack for me or something quick and easy. These sound like a good choice for you since you are having breakfast problems.

I might try one of the coffee one for lunch, maybe not with the evco cause some people say you can get sick to your stomach with too much.

IMHO replacing one meal is ok but not 2-you need the nutrition from healthy whole foods.

yeah I know, I tend to eat most of my carbs at dinner. I work nights so I have a salad, steamed veggies & protein, this helps me get through the night. Maybe coffe one tommorow.

You shouldn't be having the majority of your carbs at one meal. You should space them out over the course of the day to prevent blood sugar swings which can cause hunger and cravings. This may be why you say you are failing at this WOE. Reread DANDR-it gives the explanation for this. I know it can be harder when someone works at night so maybe some others can give you some good tips.

no that's not it, I've read it a few times since 2001. Being prepared is my down fall over the past 3 months. You know life is just so nutty & boom you're out of chicken but have to do the pool, take your kid out, clean the floor & then go to work blah blah blah. I was lo carb-sugar free for almost 2 years, maybe a little salad with lunch & most at night. I experienced everything Dr. Atkins explained, esp diminished appetite & no sugar cravings, I wish I could get back there oh wait I will get back there. Sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining about my life. I am gonna go thru it quickly again for inspiration, I love Dr. Atkins, wish he was still here.

Do you think I could just add a raw egg to the MetRx protein shake my DH drinks in the morning? It would up the protein. Would he even notice?

Thoughts...?

Sorry..had to post this...but as a New Yorker (from Brooklyn) a true Egg Cream via that title is club soda, syrup, milk. I made a low-carb version using LC choco syrup and cream. Yum.

Sorry but us Brooklynites are very protective of our "Egg Creams".

My favorite is:

3 eggs
½ cup unsweetened chocolate almond breeze
½ cup cooled coffee
1oz. heavy cream
1 packet of splenda
Handful of ice cubes

It tastes like a mocha frap!

I've had this every morning for the past 2 weeks:

Coffee & Vanilla shake

2 eggs
1 oz heavy cream
2 heaping teaspoons instant coffee
1 scoop vanilla Designer Whey
sweetener (I use both stevia and splenda)
4 ice cubes
6 oz water

Mix in blender until frothy. Yummy, I love vanilla iced coffee.

I am so going to try this - I have been afraid to try the egg creams, but I LOVE MY VANILLA ICED COFFEES - I am buying the Whey protein tonight and will make this tomorrow!! Is the cream necessary?

Thanks!

I actually do this for hubby with his pre-work out shake and he doesn't even notice, but he gets the added protein. HTH!!

Hezzie Lee

I have a protein shake every morning for breakfast. I started doing the raw egg when it became the rage around May or so. I cannot tell a difference in having the egg and not. I make my protein shakes by using Calorie Countdown chocolate milk, add a scoop of chocolate protein powder and my powdered vitamin, and then 1-2 eggs. Mostly it is 2 eggs, but have been known to use just one. Cannot tell it is in there. I say go for it! My 2 year old loves it also! Each morning he says "I try! I try!" I have to sneak if I don't want to share.

I tried one for the first time on Saturday and enjoyed it.

4 tablespoons cream
2 eggs
2 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon sugar free vanilla syrup (davinci)
1/4 tsp almond extract
4 ice cubes

It was chocolaty, creamy and delicious and didn't taste or feel like eggs. I loved it.

Ok here's how I felt today -

drank one at 7:45 - felt full for a long time

ate a (my own LC version) stuffed artichoke for lunch at 1pm, wasn't starving & could've held out longer

just had some steamed chicken & broc for dinner

You know, I drank it at about 8:00 and wasn't hungry until lunch, however, for some reason I was nauseous most of the day....until I drank some ACV and that helped a lot... Don't know why I was nauseous though!

Anyway, perhaps more protein next time, 3 eggs instead of two and more heavy cream instead of 1/2 and 1/2 which was all I had....also I might leave out the divinci syrup because I never use that so that may have been the culprit!

TJ

i felt a little nauseous while drinking it, but it's prob cause I'm a nut about the egg. It tasted good & I couldn't tell the egg was in there.

TJ - Did you use EVCO.

ACV, how do you take that?

Enza I forgot to put in the EVCO, but I did take 2 T. of fish oil directly afterwards.

Apple Cider Vinegar (Braggs brand) I usually take one tablespoon full in some cold water before each meal, but it also helps to settle my stomach.... There is a thread about it so check that out....
