Everyone finally sold me on egg creams.

I am not a fan of coffee but I wanted to add it and the raw egg thing... eh

Well I made my FIRST one this morning with

coffee
crushed ice
1 scoop choc. chip protein powder (2 carbs)
splash of cream
vanillas davinci
raw egg
and a few drops of liquid stevia

shook it up and tasted and surprised it was GOOD! lol
I couldn't drink it fast but mmm. Also just the small amount of coffee
I put in it (7 oz) has managed to keep me awake. Usually I'd have already dozed off again when I don't need to.

So if all goes well I plan to keep them. So far no nausea as some have said they have but 1 egg is my limit.

that sounds really good, I have to buy some davinci syrups already. What kind of protein powder do you use? I'm not ready for egg # 2 either, I think the evco made me slightly nauseous yesterday, today wasn't so bad.

Prozak, sorry but I still can't get over how awesome you look ! I swear you look like you are 21! You looked good in the 220 pic too but OMG. Good for you, youre such an inspiration.

Ok, after getting my order from netrition tonight, I made myself an egg cream. It got so much better. I didn't have ice cube trays, so I just put coffee in the little gladware I had and froze it that way. I used one full coffee gladware, 2eggs, 1 oz of cream, a splash of vanilla (sugar free), DaVinci chocolate syrup and a few crushed cubes. It got fabulous!!!

Can I have one of these every evening when I am hungry? Sometimes after dinner I just want something sweet and soothing. This is it, like a chocolate coffee milkshake.

Now I understand what all the fuss was about. My first attempt wasn't that good, but now that I have the right ingredients, I see many more of these in my future, LOL!!!

I am in Australia and it's 1.2 carbs for 60ml - and it's so rich I don't need more than that anyway. I suppose I could use Lactose Free cream, it's just that the only one available in Australia is Low Fat

I figure given that I'm not using splenda or flavoured protein powder the carb count will be pretty low anyway.

I'll see how I go - I need to buy a new blender first!

My recipe is:

2 eggs
3 tbsp heavy cream
1 tbsp whipped cream cheese
1/2 cup cold coffee
1 tsp Maxwell House instant coffee (I like to kick the flavor up a notch!)
1 packet splenda
1tbsp sugar-free vanilla syrup
5-6 ice cubes

I added a couple drops of hazelnut extract to the one I made this morning it was so good! Reminds me of a Tim Horton's iced cappuchino.

Does someone have a really basic recipe with no coffee. Don't use it for religious reasons but the idea of the raw egg intrigues me.

I don't see why you couldn't omit the coffee and use water, and throw in a few of your favorite berries (if they fit where you are in your WOE) like strawberries or blackberries. I'm looking forward to doing that when I get to the OWL berry rung.

I bought the big 5 lb of Met Rx Cookies and Cream from Netrition. They have several different flavors. I just went by the reviews. It's pretty good.

I still haven't fallen out yet and usually early mornings and around 5-7 is when I'm wiped out. My issue is I'm an insomniac so even the smallest amount of coffee scares me. lol

kristin4, I think having one in the evening would depend on how the coffee effects you.

Of course you must be LDS! Welcome!

You can use any type of fruity syrup.. even just vanilla is nice.

Eggs, cream, vanilla, ice and sweetener.. with some water to make it drinkable of course.. tastes just like a vanillia milkshake. Adding a fruit syrup to it is great

Some like some pumpkin and spice, or even chocolate (davincis makes an OK chocolate syrup..)

It's your call! When you are ready you can add things like frozen berries too.

Almond Breeze makes a nice base, I make a delicious one with choc unsweetened Almond Breeze, PB, cocoa, and sweeteners. I know you don't drink tea but cooled herbal tea could work if that's okay. (I think a Mormon I once knew told me herbal tea is kind of "borderline" as far as being church-legal). Soy milk if you can handle soy (I am hypothyroid and can't). Cream thinned out with water to make "milk."

If you don't want coffee, but don't mind aspartame, you could mix up a little SF jello powder and water and then add your eggs and cream. I also like to use almond milk, a little cream, Splenda, eggs and rum extract to make egg nog.

I used to add one of the SF jello cups to my strawberry protein shake. It made it so good and I was told the gelatin is really good for your hair and nails both of which I need help with. I forgot about that so I guess I should be adding my plain gelatin to my egg cream so I can get some of those benefits.

I had another one this morning. I almost screwed up and added the egg to the mix while the coffee was hot. lol Can you say scrambled egg cream.. YUM! Luckily my brain kicked in even though it was early. My stick mixer died , I'd probably enjoy these more if I could blend them better I stir as good as possible and still get a tiny bit of egg slime at the bottom.
I usually pour it out at that point. lol

I just bought a milk frother off ebay yesterday because someone mentioned how good they are to whip cream. I wonder if the shake would be too much for that? Maybe if I stirred it all up first then used it to get the lil bits at the end.
I'm really loving these though You have no idea how vile I found coffee before but I would be draggin' all day long. Now I'm up and can actually get things done without the foggy head. Maybe my body missed some caffeine.

sorry about the book I wrote. lol

Gravel

is low carb AND high fiber!! So no one worries about food poisoning with the raw egg? I have to sneak my eggs in, in the morning. I am just so sick of them, but they are the "best" breakfast food!

I can't say the ones I've made have kept me full enough that I'm not hungry again by 10:30 -11:00 (I eat lunch early usually around 11) So they are definitely helping me with fatigue which I so needed anyways!

still not brave enough for 2 eggs. How are you all mixing yours? Because just using a spoon since my mixer died isn't enough so I don't want to do 2 eggs, yet.

I too am intrigued about the eating raw eggs thing... Since we're on a budget i can't afford to buy free range so it's normal old eggs for us and I'll be honest, I'm scared to eat them raw!!
