I know the feeling.

Can you substitute for something allowed but equally decadent like a steak dripping in butter or a LC cheesecake?

Yes, and use full fat mozzarella if you can find it. What a difference in flavor!

My son used to work there and they had rats in the ovens.
That deters me from wanting pizza from Round Table.

I understand that feeling, I really do. Try to get some variety in your diet so you aren't eating the same old boring stuff. And do try one of the LC substitutes for pizza. I find it very helpful for me when I want a yummy pizza.

I am having homemade taco salad for dinner. Yum.

What is it that you crave about the pizza? And don't say the cardboardlike nasty crust. I know I like the cheese and the meat. Ham and sausage are preferred but pepperoni will do the trick too.

So - if you don't feel like doing a full-fledged low carb pizza, take some meat and mozzerella - throw it on a plate with some cut up green peppers or black olives or whatever floats your boat and a teeny amount of canned pizza sauce (who likes the sauce anyways). Nuke the whole mess for a few seconds and that might reduce the craving a little. If not then repeat.

One of my fave low carb snacks:

pepperoni sliced super thin
1/2 cup of shredded cheese (1/2 mozza 1/2 cheddar works best)
pizza sauce

toss the meat in a pan and cook it, cover with cheese and cook more, until bubbly around the edges. Cool slighty before moving to plate. (you can do this in the microwave too)

Top with a bit of pizza sauce, eat.

You can play around and add oregano into the pan, and onions or whatever your favorite topping is.

It really does help cure the cravings.

That sounds great! Does tomatoe sauce have carbs? Or pizza sauce?

I need some new foods!

My own mock pizza:

take a dish you can put in the oven (I use a small Corning Ware dish)
a couple teaspoons of bottled pizza sauce (fewer carbs than you think, and it doesn't take much to give you the flavor of pizza)
pepperoni layered on top
generous topping of shredded mozzarella (parmesan gives a nice, nutty flavor too)

Bake to taste. I like to have the cheese slightly brown

Enjoy!

The low-carb pizza crust recipes really are very good, and help curb the cravings for the restaurant pizzas. I was a skeptic until I tried them myself, and they are yummy indeed!

I would make up some meatballs with beef & mozz & egg, then cover with your own sauce, no added sugar, but thick tomato sauce with fresh basil! Nice hard parmesan on top of that....soul food.

Make Cleo's CUP-O-Pizza or follow the recipe below...

Wifezilla's Pizza Pots

Ingredients
1 lb ground turkey
1 yellow squash - cubed
1 calabacita or small zucchini - cubed
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup sliced mushrooms
10 oz "No Sugar Added" Hunt's spaghetti sauce (a little less than half a can)
12 pepperonis
3 shallots - course chopped (or 2/3 cup chopped red onion)
1/4 cup grated or dry Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 Tbsp Italian seasoning (or fresh basil and oregano if you can get it)
2 tsp ground fennel (I crush the seeds in a mortar)
1 clove fresh garlic - minced
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp ground cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 tsp black pepper

Brown ground turkey in olive oil. Add fennel, salt, red and black pepper, garlic and Italian seasoning to the meat as it cooks. In a separate pan, cook onions in butter until they start to turn clear. Then add squash and mushrooms. Once the vegetables are cooked, add to the browned ground turkey and stir together and add spaghetti sauce and Parmesan cheese. Simmer on low for 5 minutes. While meat and sauce is simmering, crisp the pepperonis on a plate covered with a paper towel in the microwave (approx 2-3 minutes...watch closely so they do not burn). Crumble the pepperonis once they cool and add half of the crumbles to the sauce and meat mix.

Fill 4 french onion soup pots with equal portions of the meat, sauce and veggie mix. Top each pot with 1/4 cup of mozzarella and sprinkle with the remaining pepperoni bits.

Either bake or microwave pots until cheese melts. (Microwave safe pots should have that info stamped on the bottom. If it does not say microwave safe, stick to baking.)

Round Table Pizza! Ohhhhhh..... waaaaa....... I haven't seen a Round Table Pizza parlor since I left California nearly 5 years ago. I used to order extra cheese and toppings, and then eat them and leave the crust. I have not found a pizza parlor in Oklahoma that is even close to being as good as Round Table. It's just one more thing I miss about California.

When I made those pizza pots, my son and husband were eating take out pizza. The smell of their pizza is what drove me to make them. When I gave hubby a taste of the pizza pots, he tried to steal the pizza pots because they tasted better...LOL

It doesn't always work, but this particular low carb substitution did it for me.

I LOVE Sugarfreesheilas portabella mushroom pizza when I am craving pizza or DH and the kids are eating it, I make up one and it is so filling I never finish it all. Its great because unlike regular flour pizza that makes me bloated but still hungry minutes later, this version hits the spot and does not bloat me. I subsitute shredded chicken for it sometimes.
