A 1/4 cup of liverwurst is a lot - that stuff goes a long way.

Holiday spread: 1 tube OM Braunschweiger, 8oz cream cheese softened, one stick butter, 1 tsp Worschester or soy sauce. Put in a mixer and combine. Tastes as good as that french patty stuff you hear about.

Broccoli sprouts...and liverwurst...

Liverwurst data at Nutrition Data says 1/4cup "liverwurst spread" (no spec for pork or beef liver as ingredient, but liverwurst HAS ingredients, so read the label!) has 3.2gCarb and 1.4gFiber for 2gNetCarb with 6.8gProtein and 168cals.

I'm eating braunschweiger by the slice, about 1/4cup of liverwurst per slice, and finding it a tasty way to get paté into me. Nice way to eat a fluffy Tbs of broccoli sprouts, folding a slice of braunschweiger around crunchy spicy sprouts that are rich in nutrients and economical in carbs.

Broccoli sprouts are quite peppery and just full of healthful benefits. In my own search for maximum nutrition for each carb eaten, I think broc sprouts is a high scoring vegie carb. I enjoy the peppery bite.
Quote:
One ounce [approx. 1/2cup and 1gCarb] of... broccoli sprouts provides as much sulforaphane GS [SGS]... as 1-1/4 pounds of market-ready adult broccoli.... Sulforaphane in its natural glucosinolate precursor is a phytochemical found naturally in some plant foods. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower are particularly abundant in SGS. Scientific research indicates that SGS supports antioxidant activity in the body. It is a long-lasting antioxidant that triggers Phase 2 enzymes in the body that help to remove free radicals and other chemicals that my cause DNA damage. Unlike Vitamin C, which requires several doses per day, SGS requires about 3 or 4 doses per week.
Sprouting broccoli and other tasty sprouts can be a counter-top garden within reach of anyone, not involving the labor that a conventional garden involves. Got a square foot of counter space to set up a sprouter? Want fresh crispy sprouts at hand daily?

For anyone trying to cut back on carbs, this sure sounds like a solution!

Vit.B-12? Liverwurst is RICH source...

Interesting article about Vit.B-12 - by Gina Shaw (a Doctor of Science, focus on Natural Hygiene and Complementary Medicine; she is not a medical doctor) - says...
Quote:
...No foods naturally contain vitamin B12 - neither animal or plant foods. Vitamin B12 is a microbe - a bacteria - it is produced by microorganisms. Vitamin B12 is the only vitamin that contains a trace element - cobalt - which gives this vitamin its chemical name - cobalamin - which is at the centre of its molecular structure. Humans and all vertebrates require cobalt, although it is assimilated only in the form of vitamin B12.... Absorption of the natural B12 coenzymes can take place in the mouth, throat, oesophagus, bronchial tubes and even in the upper small intestines, as well as all along the intestinal tract. ... A B12 deficiency can be caused by antibiotics (from the drugs themselves and contained in milk and meat), alcohol (alcohol damages the liver, so drinkers need more B12) and smoking (and all high temp cooked food is smoky) and stress also raises B12 needs)....
My new favorite LC snack - liverwurst/braunschweiger - is RICH in Vit.B-12, according to this data from FitDay:

Anyone else thinking that liverwurst might be a nice nosh any day of the week? If so, do try it with a pinch of broccoli sprouts for a bit of CRUNCH and a lot of zippy bite. Peppery bite!
