Well.
I have to say - that is quite possibly THE most eloquent, well-written thing I've read in a very long time! I couldn't have said it better myself! ![]() That should most definitely be a sticky and a "must read" for EVERY newbie or person even CONSIDERING following a low-carb plan. BRAVO!!!! ![]() |

What an insightful post, years of invaluable experience condensed beautifully into just a few minutes of reading. I hope you never leave this board, Goldenrod, because you are one serious asset to it.

![]() Thanks for taking the time to read that post, everyone! I'd been meaning to put it together for about a week, and finally took the time to sit down and DO it. (It helps that I'm currently between jobs, so I have pretty much nothing *but* time.) And for all of those who commented on my post being eloquent, or well-written, THANK YOU, thank you, THANK YOU. (I think I mentioned in the other thread that I'm an aspiring novelist, and compliments like that really help me believe I might "make it" someday.) Believe it or not, even after those three huge posts, there are some things I forgot to mention, specifically for the newbies. I did want to point out that there *are* times, of course, when you *do* need to be very mindful of exact numbers or percentages of carbs/calories/fat. If you're in a stall, or close to goal and things seem to be slowing down, learn from posts here -- people seem to have luck "shaking things up" every now and then -- upping their carbs, adding in _____, taking away cheese. You name it, people have tried it. It works for some, it doesn't work for others. The process isn't fun, and it's not always easy, but it's do-able by all of us. |

Great post... It is true I do tend to psych myself out...mostly because I see the results of others and find myself struggling due to meds and hormones... It is frustrating, especially when you are following the plan. I agree, this definitely needs to be a sticky!!!

Goldenrod, you have a gift with writing. I'm sure your dreams will come true. I also think your excellent post should be a stickey. Thanks for putting all the words of wisdom together in such an easy read.

Goldenrod -
![]() ![]() I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself that I'm not losing fast on my 1,000th try at low carbing. Reading your post solidified to me that I'm partially "fooling myself" and if I don't take this seriously and do it RIGHT, then I'll never be successful. This post was well written and I wish you luck on your career as a novelist! Please keep posting such inspirational information. |

Thanks everyone, for your wonderful replies.I've learned SO much from this forum during the last few years, and I'm glad I'm able to give back now and then. Seriously...with what I now know about nutrition, diet, and exercise, I'm a different person from who I was pre-low carb. I'm go proud and grateful that I've finally found the truth about why I never seemed able to change my body, despite doing "all the right things" as advised by the "experts" for so long. LCF is truly a refuge from the outside world, where we can all come together and be in the company of people who GET IT. ![]() |
