I never thought I'd be posting this...

Hi everyone,

My name is Ann and I am pretty new member here. To be honest, I stumbled upon this site hoping to crash diet away some weight before seeing a boyfriend. All week, I had been doing Stillman's (not knocking it, it does work) and shedding weight probably somewhat irresponsibly because of my relatively small amount to lose.

And then, yesterday the most unthinkable thing happened and my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. In one moment, the bottom of my whole world dropped out. All of the sudden, vanity pounds have become irrelevant. Today I decided that all I am concerned about is protecting my health and staying nourished to be here for my mom in this dark hour.

I never thought I'd be posting this, but I don't even want to lose weight fast anymore-- I just want to be healthy and strong.

Thank you all so much for being here; I haven't even told my closest friends about this yet, it is so nice to be able to share things and gain motivation from you all.

I am so sorry for your news and hope that your mother has a full recovery. Your goals are the right goals to have. I started with the mantra that every day I was regaining my health and that every pound I lost was a precious step in getting healthier. My heart goes out to you and thank you for the reminder about what is really important here.....our health!

I will be thinking about you frequently. We are going through cancer in our family right now.

I also applaud you for your revelation. Do it for health and the rest follows suit. You have lots of cancer survivors here for support as well.

be well and practice positive affirmation.

You will be in my thoughts as well. I have dealt with cancer too - my mom. She was diagnosed with colon cancer but it hasn't returned in 8 years. So I am sending positive thoughts your way. Your revelation is the right one. It should always be about health first.

Ann, welcome! Your mom has every chance in the world to be whole & happy; the treatments are pretty fantastic anymore. Always keep hope alive and be a positive rock for your mom.

Meanwhile, you got the message right on: be well and happy and make the best choices you can during this time. Luckily, doing cool food preparations like veg soups or the like can keep your hands/mind busy and feed the whole family great disease fighting food.

Love & light to you!

Lots of prayers headed your way. It's too bad that something terrible has to happen sometimes for us to see the most important things. Your courage in posting and sharing your journey has and will continue to touch others and help them in ways you may never even see.

Peace and God's Blessings
