So last night I wanted ice cream so bad.

For an hour I was thinking of different combo's of ice cream I could have, talk about tourching ones self..

then I went food shopping, I did get low carb bryers pop's, I figure 9 carbs. ok If i can eat one. I will be good.. Of course its not what i was dreaming up in my head. I can say my number one down fall is ice cream. I could eat it all day long.

I just had one!!

Now I dont plan on having one till next week or one on the weekends. If i can do that I will have hit a mile stone.

I didnt want to deny my self totally of the one thing I love, because then I would of gone to handels, or stone cold, or dairy queen and got omg the thought of what I would of walked away with

I did also buy a can a whipped cream so when the sweet urge hits I can at least have something in my limits..

I love ice cream and recently bought an ice cream maker so that I wouldn't waste any money on the supposed LC junk out there...I use heavy cream, 1/2 and 1/2, 1 egg, 1 scoop of protein powder, and sugar substitute...voila - yummy, creamy, custard like ice cream! It was worth the $20 I paid for the machine and it takes a while to make it so its really just for when those cravings hit, I can't easily abuse it! Plus I can easily say and identify all of the ingredients!

I'm by no means a cook so there may be better recipes and instructions out there! I just needed a fix since I have to drive by Culver's a lot!

1 C 1/2 and 1/2
2 C heavy cream
2 scoops protein powder
1 egg
Sweetener to taste

In a sauce pan over medium heat add the 1/2 and 1/2 and heavy cream constantly stirring. In a small bowl beat the egg and set aside. When the mixture heats up use 1/2 cup of it to temper eggs in bowl, when eggs and cream mixture are blended well pour slowly (in a thin stream) back into the saucepan and continue to stir until the whole mixture begins to thicken (thick coating on spoon), add the protein powder and sweetener (I am using EZ-Sweetz). I've been using a wisk to mix and keeping a spoon on hand to check thickness. Pour the mixture into a bowl and put in the refrigerator until chilled (I usually give it another good wisk when taking it out of the fridge) then follow your machine's directions.

I don't know exacts on the amount it makes but its definitely a lot! I freeze several portions of it in individual containers and the top layer gets pretty rock hard but it thaws out quickly (10 sec in the micro help)

My next attempt is going to be Alton Brown's Avocado Ice Cream!

The Zip-Loc ice cream is something I tried last week. Not only is it just totally cool, but it hit the spot also.

I had a no sugar added butter pecan cone at the mall the other day. It was delicious, and I didn't crave anything else. I feel like I am in control this time, and that's a great feeling!!!

I freeze some Westsoy Soymilk. I love the chocolate and vanilla. The chocolate tastes like chocolate milk to me. It is made with splenda and only has one net carb per cup. Whenit is frozen it tastes like a fudgesicle! I am in Michigan and I find it at Meijer. Not sure what other stores carry it. It is in an aisle, not in the cooler sections.

When I am craving it bad, I go/buy Clemy's Natural Sugar Free Ice Cream. I love it. It is the creamiest I have had. I don't keep it in the house so if I want it - I buy it and then try and have the rest of the family eat it until its gone.
