Living in Vancouver: Where do you find your low-carb products/meals?
DH and I are moving to Vancouver, Canada next week for three months for his work. I'm very excited! We'll be living in Yale Town.
So I'm wondering, for any of you low-carbers who live in Vancouver, is it easy to low-carb there? Do health food stores carry low carb items? Is it easy to eat out? We're moving from Australia and I've never been to Canada before, so I'll need all the help I can get to stay on plan when we arrive!! Thanks in advance for your help! ![]() |

to Canada, I live the next province to the right ![]() I'm sure Vancouver will have lots of LC products locally, it's one of the major cities in Canada. If not you can order from The Low Carb Grocery in Ontario, or from Netrition.com from the states but it will cost you for shipping. However, you can still follow Atkins without all the LC products. ![]() |

Thanks My Sharona! I'm so excited to be going – I've heard it's absolutely wonderful!
![]() There are practically no low-carb products in Australia anyway, so I think I can manage without if I need to. But it would be so good to be able to sample some of the things everyone always talks about! |

I haven't seen any pre-packaged NF bacon here in Alberta.

I live about an hour out of Vancouver, and its a beautiful city! Im sure you will find lots of low carb items there! As like the previous person said its a major city. Theres lots of grocery stores, mind you I dont know about the downtown area you will be staying in. Theres Safeway, Superstore, IGA.... So enjoy your stay here!

I used to live in Vancouver, very close to the Yaletown area.. it's really nice there. It's been some years though and I'm not sure where the health food stores are anymore. There was this really nice grocery store called Urban Fare that had lots of nice stuff, not sure if it's still there though. And of course there is Safeway too.

Thanks for the info! Everyone tells me what a wonderful city it is – I'm so excited. I'll drive over the border if I have to to get some Davinci syrups – I've been DYING to try them!!

That's the beauty of living in Vancouver, you're so close to the border, the mountains, Victoria Island, all kinds of parks and places to see and you'll have wonderful weather compared to the rest of us living in Canada. You'll love it.
How come only for 3 months though? If you Google low carb/ health food stores in Vancouver, you'll find some addresses. |

Although I don't live in the city anymore I am still pretty familiar with it give I visit there often since I am only a ferry ride away. Granville Island Market will give you much of what you need when it comes to fresh and organic foods.Food, Glorious Food | Granville Island
Vancouver and surrounding area is a great place if your looking for all sorts of foods. Chinatown is the second largest in N.America and the food there is wonderful as well. Granville Island artisan store Vancouver Chinatown specialty foods - Edible British Columbia There are so many outlets for good and bad food! ...bad food being fast food outlets. We have a very multi cultural society and the food choices reflect that. Aside from food, it is a beautiful part of the world. P.M. me if you have any questions. ![]() |
