What type of squash is this?

I found this little squash in my local market (in China). I love squashes and pumpkin, but found that butternut squash is too high in carbs for me right now.

I wonder what variety squash this is. It is small, softball size at 10.5oz, and it is bright yellow, with a pale yellow flesh.

Does anyone know its variety and any nutritional information on it?

Thanks

Isn't gourd a general term for all the hard skinned winter squashes?

I just googled yellow squash and it has a picture of one growing at the bottom of the page. Might be a yellow acorn?

It looks like a yellow acorn squash- pretty similar to butternut. That's my guess.

ouch, my program says that 10.5oz is 43g of carbs, so I had to throw it away. At least it was only 25cents. I will come back to this in 2 years when I reach goal and switch to maintenance.

LOL I thought those were for decoration at Halloween and Thanksgiving. My Dad planted those in his garden once and that is what we used them for. Maybe it wouldn't taste good, anyway.

I believe that to be a sweet dumpling squash - they come in many colors and some are striped even, but from your description of size and that picture - that's my guess!

Too bad you threw it out though - 3/4 of a cup is only 7 carbs with 1 of fiber!

Google "sweet dumpling squash", that gets the most pictures that look like yours.
