See, WE knew eggs are the perfect food!

They should have just asked us. Here's my fav link with all the info about eggs you'll ever want or need.
WHFoods: Eggs

Eggs Beat Bagels as Weight Loss Aid

New research confirms that eating eggs for breakfast helps adults to lose weight.

The International Journal of Obesity published a study Thursday showing that adults who had two eggs for breakfast lost 65 percent more weight than adults who ate an equal-calorie bagel. The study confirmed previous research performed by the American College of Nutrition that indicated dieters who ate eggs for breakfast felt more full and consumed fewer calories after the meal.

AP Newswire

Increased weight loss was not the only benefit for those who ate the egg breakfast. Those dieters reported having more energy than the people who had bagels. The egg-eaters also had a 61 percent greater reduction in body mass index. Both weight loss groups incorporated breakfast into an overall low-calorie diet.

"The increased satiety and energy due to eggs helps people better comply with a reduced-calorie diet," Nikhil V. Dhurandhar, Ph.D said. Dhurandhar was the lead researcher for the study.

Registered dietitian Jackie Newgent agreed. "Eggs are a good source of all-natural, high-quality protein, so they can help keep you satisfied longer, making it easier to resist tempting snacks," she said.

The cholesterol levels for the dieters did not vary from baseline in either the egg-eating or bagel-eating group, the researchers said.

I eat 3 eggs fried in bacon fat for breakfast nearly every morning. Granted, that's along with 3 or 4 slices of bacon and some spinach, also fried in bacon fat.

And "duh"....the folks who ate eggs had more energy than those who ate a bagel....whodathunkit....I'll tell ya who...Dr. ATKINS among others. LOL. That part kinda made me smile.

Pre low carb, eggs would last in my refridgerator.....well, I'll bet I didn't buy 2 dozen eggs a year. (ya don't need eggs as even an ingredient if you only eat processed crapola).

Now, I pretty much buy a dozen a week. I don't eat them everyday, but I eat them often.

The INCREDIBLE EDIBLE EGG!!!

Mmmmmmmm................my kinda breakfast! I also have bacon fat that I keep in the fridge that I use when I'm sauteeing onions or making eggs on a bacon-less day.
Eggs truly are the main staple in my house. Scrambled, quiches, hard-boiled, deviled, egg creams, ooopsie rolls, and I could go on.

Did you check out the link I included? I "share" that with people who say things like, I just have the egg whites so I don't raise my cholesterol.

Eggs, they do a body good!

Anne

I go through close to 2 dozen a week. Unfortunately, these are not organic eggs, either. I simply can't afford those when they're close to $4 a dozen here.

I didn't follow the link yet, I'll go do that now.

BTW - Anne, it is a struggle to read some of your posts. The font you use is so darn tiny! The article text you posted was such a welcome change from having to squint at your posts.

On that note, EGGS rule my world... there is nothing worse than realizing you only have a few left in the fridge and the stores are closed.

We eat anywhere from 6-8 dozen a WEEK and use free range eggs, and organic free range. (when I can get them.. and OMG they are $6.99 a dozen)

If it weren't for egg creams right now, I would STILL never be eating breakfast. (and my kids LOVE them too)

I love going out for breakfast and ordering 8 eggs over easy and 3 sides of sausages to share with my 3 kids. Oh the looks I get!

How bizarre! Someone told me my posts were TOO large, so I went back to a #2 font. Howz this?

Hopefully, this is a no-squint-zone now. Thanks for saying something to me.

Anne

I usually buy two packs of ten a week of a brand called "Big and Fresh". Nice name. They're certainly big, and fresh? Well, they sure don't have time to go off in my house, baby!

I love my breakfast of eggs every day. Right around the end of induction, I felt sick of eggs and thought I could never even look at one again.

So, I ate Atkins bars for breakfast for a few days.

Then a funny thing happened. I started eating eggs again and now breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. So many choices. Do I want one egg or two?
Sausage with the eggs? Bacon? Fried, scrambled or an omelette?

Now breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I look forward to it.

Much better, Anne

I thought I'd get sick of my breakfast, but I haven't. It's my favorite meal of the day. Now scrambled eggs and omlets, I quickly grow tired of. But eggs fried over easy in bacon fat? Yum!

Then I had some bacon and eggs for lunch. Because I can....!

thanks for posting this great info

We go though about 2 dozen eggs per week, I almost always have them on hand. One of my DDs has a very sensitive stomach and sometimes eggs are the only thing she can tolerate.

So the other day a focus/marketing group calls me and asks me how many eggs I purchase a week- when I told her, there was a deafening silence. Bottom line, she did not even have a category for that many. I had to laugh, b/c I know 2 dozen is just a starting point for some lc families.

My Egg Fairy brings me 5 dozen a week and we certainly go though them! I tend to panic a little bit when there are less than 4 eggs hard-boiled in the fridge or if <gasp> there is only 1 18-pack in there. My 4 y-o DS had 3 HB eggs for a snack today alone.

I think I'll trade my coffee tomorrow for a nice milkshake-y egg cream. Mmm. . .

Someone said they avoid the yolks, you know, too much fat. I said, and minus all the nutriional benefits. I shared the link about eggs with them and they are now whole egg converts! See, what a little bit of knowledge can lead to?

PS Vesna...I have been thinking about, and you showed up!!!

I eat organic eggs every day in my Egg Cream.

I give my kids organic eggs almost every day in some form or other.

I just bought some fresh, free-range eggs from a neighbor. They are not organic, but they are not chemicaled up either. They use a natural laying mash. I paid $3 a dozen instead of $5 for organic at the store.
