TMI?
Okay, I need to talk bowel movements. I'm sure I'm not the first to broach this subject here!
![]() Anyhoo, I have heard lots of people in the past say that a low carb diet binds them up and causes constipation.....well I'm having kind of the opposite problem! Sometimes diarrhea, sometimes not quite but still "loose." When I do have a high carb day that's what binds me up Does this mean I'm not doing something right? My diet consists of 90% whole foods - my three major food groups are veggies, meat and dairy (pretty much in that order, although some days I get in more meat than veggies.) I never really used to eat any veggies at all except for the occasional salad so that's the biggest change in my diet, the other big change is obviously cutting out carbs, I've had no carbs from bread, pasta, rice, no starches (except for the occasional splurge on the weekend)......what gives?

TMI here, too, but if you want to discuss it...
Same here...and carbs bind me up, too. In fact, if the looseness gets to the point it's affecting my daily routines, I eat more carbs (in the form of some hard cheese) to stop it. BTW, it's not like illness-related runs, or bad-food runs...there's virtually no cramping or upset-stomach feelings. So I figure that's just the way my system reacts to LC. I don't always do this, but I'd say it's about every 3 days or so. Just consider it a "clean out" of the system. If I get the loosies when I absolutely can't be near a restroom, I do take immodium to stop up the system. I don't do that very often though.
BTW, my eating would be more like meat, fat, a little dairy-like 1/2 c. cottage cheese a day, and lastly, veggies...I'm not big on veggies (except the kind I can't eat like french fried potatoes, LOL,, so it's just an occasional salad for me.) So my loosies are not related to eating more veggies than usual.

It's a fact (correct me if you think I am wrong) that fried foods and some carbs loosen up the bowels when eaten excessively. Furthermore, when you start induction you tend to eat less vegetables and more meat.
Everything plays a factor in your diet. For me when I eat more fatty meat it loosens my bowels because of excessive fat in my diet. Some vegetables loosen up my bowels more than others, if I eat a lot of cheese I don't have loose stools as often. Like I said, everything plays a factor in your diet. (When I say diet I mean WOE )Everyone is different as you all know, that is why some changes in diet work better for others and some lose faster than others.

Sorry, I do think you're wrong. This is not a fact, it's a YMMV. Keep in mind that some people never have eaten many veggies, before or during LC. Fried foods do not loosen up everyone, either. Everything plays a factor in your diet. For me when I eat more fatty meat it loosens my bowels because of excessive fat in my diet. I don't know what might be causing this for you, but I found that eating yogurt kept things more "solid" for me.
