Buying meat question

I dont want to pick on a grocer online so let me ask this is a basic way LOL....

I bought hamburger meat this week from a new place and I was so sick from the hidden grease... I don't even wanna talk about how sick.

Next day I open 2 chicken packs from the same place.
I take all the chicken out and notice the trays were still heavy?
I kept looking for a hidden chicken breast.
Then the same thing happened with the second pack...?
I then saw where the lining pad was loaded with liquid?

Could store XYZ be watering these pads down so they can charge more?
Could the same store be hiding extra grease in their hamburger?
Or does this just happen sometimes?

Water, that trick is as old as the hills. My dad's first job was watering the ground beef at a market.... He was 50 in 1984.... So, this is NOT a new trick!

I've seen poultry labeled "Up to 12% broth/marinade"

Did you weigh the meat after you unpacked it? If it's significantly less than the weight you paid for, then it sounds like they're pulling a fast one. If you pay for a kilo of meat then your should be buying a package with a kilo of meat inside it, not a package where the meat and package together add up to a kilo. If your meat does add up to what you paid for then maybe the water is just something to do with preservation, and give them the benefit of the doubt on that anyway.

But if they're ripping you off, maybe go complain, or at least never return and tell all your friends/neighbours about their cheating ways too!

There is a tare weight on the packaging. Say that the packaging is KNOWN to weigh .02 oz, they enter that as a tare weight, and then they zero the scale. Many deli packages list the tare weight of the bowls.
