Fage yogard / strawberries

Hi!
On day 25 now. Not only am I craving yogart, but strawberries. I looked in the Atkin's carb counter book and it said 1/2 cup of whole fresh strawberries are a total of 3.4 net carbs (5.1 carbs minues fiber 1.7) That probably only amounts to several strawberries. Dumb question...but do I measure the strawberries by putting them in the measuring cup whole...or do I slice them and then measure them in the cup? It seems to me I'd get more if they were sliced, but it says whole strawberries????

I'm going out to by some Fage yogart now. I'll be very careful with how much I eat. What proportion of it do most of you eat at a time? 1/2 cup?
Thanks.
Claire

I was never real sure on that either. I bought a digital scale to weigh my food items that were easy to over eat. Most nutrition guides will list the info by grams also that is the only way I know to measure and be sure.

If it says whole, measure it whole. If you want to measure it sliced then look up the carb count for 1/2 cup sliced. It will be different.

Yea, I figured that with the strawberries...I didn't end up buying any because they didn't look that great...

But I did buy a small container of Fage yogart...plain..it says 5%...and I think they had 2%...no sugar is listed in the ingrediants but it says 5 grams of sugar...is that a natural sugar that occurs in the yogart fermenting...or whatever? The container is 5.3 ounces (150 grams) and 5g carbs for the entire container. I tasted a tiny bit and it was delicious. Now, I plan on having some tomorrow. Is the whol 5.3 ounce container too much to have as a meal? It's only 5carbs. Oh, and does 5% mean it is not whole fat yogart? That and 2% is all I could find, and the 2% had more sugar and more carbs.
Thanks
Claire

You may have to buy a bigger container to get the full fat version called Fage Total. My Trader Joe's only sells the 2% and 5% in small packs.

As far as the sugars (hope I don't make you sorry you asked lol) Yes, there is a special kind of sugar in yogurt called lactose sugars. Wether or not these sugars are the same are *regular* sugars is a point of debate among low carbers:

Low Carb Luxury: The Yogurt Exception\

Because you are still at basically induction levels and at the beginning of your journey I still suggest that you count the carbs (or *most*) of the carbs listed on the package.

Okay, what's the difference in Total Fage, Fage 5% and Fage 2%? I know it is the fat level, but is Fage 2%, 2% less fat or 2% fat?

Also, usually the less fat, the more carbs. The 5% has 5.3g, but I thought the Fage Total has 6g. I love the Fage Total. That's the only one I've tasted, but I'm always up for lowering my carb intake if I can.

Does anyone know if there is much difference in the taste?

It means the total content of fat in the Fage. I really can't tell any difference in the flavor. I have tried the 0% and it tastes good too.

Dairy has natural sugars from the lactose not any added sugars.

I had Fage for dinner! With some plain canned pumpkin, a few drops of Vanilla Creme Stevia, a sprinkle of cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.

I prefer the full-fat, I think the fat-free is a little tangier and a little less smooth, but that could just be my anti-nonfat bias talking
