I use heavy cream, no clue why, but I like it. I do not even know the difference between them.

1/2 and 1/2 - I use it to save calories since I have 3-4 cups of coffe or tea per day.

I like hc better, 1/2 & 1/2 is less cals but I end up using way more of it then I do with hc to get my coffee to taste the way I want it too. I only have one (large) coffee a day though.

I do heavy cream as well. I think it's 0 carbs vs 1-2 for 1/2 and 1/2. I know it sounds silly, but...plus I can whip the cream if I'm really craving something sweet...also put a tbsp in my tea at night....

I've been doing this forever and do not find it stalls me (having my one 12 oz cup of joe with splenda, davincis and hc) and keeps me happy we all want me to be happy in the AM Each person is different with what triggers/stalls. you may have to try both

Heavy cream. Tastes better. Has more fat, less carbs.

Carb-restriction is all the restriction I'll accept with this way of eating, so I decline to use a product that is lower-fat and therefore often higher in carbohydrates. This is my reason for using only heavy cream - and full-fat cheeses, not trimming the fat off my my meat ... the list goes on. While I don't force fat, I allow it like there's no tomorrow!

As for the differences in heavy cream & half-and-half:

Heavy cream isn't 0 carbs-run your brand through a hidden carbs calculator. It runs about .61 carbs per tablespoon.

I use coconut oil now. For me it's just cream without the cow and color. I also don't sweeten my coffee.

For cooking, well I am not there yet. I'd prolly use homemade nut mylk.

I prefer (organic!) half and half -- for just 1-2 carbs, I prefer to save the calories. And in my coffee, heavy cream tastes sort of oily to me, not "milky" enough. I used skim milk in coffee for many years, so I find half and half plenty rich! I buy hc on occasion to put over berries or make whipped cream, but I think of it as an occasional rather than daily food.

I may switch to half and half to cut calories once I'm a skinny minnie like yourself. But for now, I need the fat to lose fat.

I am a heavy cream gal. At first.. I HATED it. I didn't like the way it tasted, but now that I have gotten used to it, omg it's so good. I had to buy half and half when the store was out of HC once, and it just wasn't the same.

I prefer to get my fats and calories from my food - not drink, but then I don't lose unless I eat 1500 cals or less per day.

When I read that people have to limit their calories to something as low as 1500 a day, it just scares the crap out of me. I know I'm losing fast because I weigh so much. I just hope I never have to really start counting calories to lose. Right now, I'm losing on lots of fat and lots of calories.

I did at first too but I have some health issues. Now I try to stay around 1700-1800 calories.

Heavy Cream.
It has fat and no carbs.
Once I started using it in my coffee, I noticed that I wasn't as starving during breakfast. I think the fat in it helps me in the AM. No stalling problems here with using it.

There's a lot of misinformation about heavy cream going on-it does have carbs. Run your brand thru a hidden carbs calculator. Most are around .61 carbs per tablespoon. So if you are eating a great deal of it the carbs can add up.

Yeah folks, HC definitely is not 0 carbs. Please do not think of it as a free food.

Lisa - I've never used a hidden carb calculator. So does that figure the exact carbs on anything that says 0 carbs by entering in the other nutritional information?

Yes it uses this formula which you can use on any food

calories= carbs x 4 + protein x 4 + fats x 9

I have both whipping cream and Coffee cream which is 18% milk fat. I prefer the coffee cream.

I must be grumpy today because it's driving me nuts that peeps keep saying hc has no carbs.

What if it says 0 carbs though? Will it calculate the exact amount of carbs if the label says 0 but the actual carb amount is between 0 and 1?

Note: Heavy cream does have carbs in it. Not a lot.

I use heavy cream only -- mostly to make cappuccino with. It turns out to be quite satisfying -- I rarely have more than one a day any more. I used to have at least two.

Also, Starbucks doesn't taste as good -- even with their whole milk. You can order it breve but they charge extra.
