If I remember this correctly, the law says that food labels can say 0 carbs if the amount of carbs is less than .5 per serving. Something like that. Heavy cream products like to show one tablespoon as the serving size and they can therefore put 0 carbs on the label. Some people have been fooled by this and think they can cook with cups full of cream and still get 0 carbs. eeek!

Heavy Cream has less carbs than Half & Half - but more calories & fat.
At 2 Tbsp per day, the difference is minimal for me, so I go for taste: Heavy Cream! Also, most HC has 0 sugar and usually HH has a gram or 2 of sugar. |

with the amounts i use,
the carb count is not an issue, but the cream imparts a more luxurious flavor to coffee or tea etc. Go for the cream!!! Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

I use HC in recipes and to make my ranch dressing but I prefer H-n-H for my coffee (1 big mug per day).

Here's my original post on the Mimic Creme: Great Product Find: Non-Dairy Cream! I stumbled upon some a few weeks ago in a rather obscure health food store -- I'm in whole/health food stores pretty often, but have never seen any others stock this, so I think your best bet is to do what I eventually did when I needed more and order it from the manufacturer directly online. (Until we can convince Netrition to carry it, that is!). If you buy 6 of the long-life tetra paks, the shipping is free. I would suggest getting the plain, unsweetened version so that you can save on carbs/cals and have control over the type of sweetener, if any, you would want to add. I've so far been very pleased with the MC in my chai tea, as a cream soup base, and in my home-made ice cream. It doesn't whip (they are apparently going to release a whippable version in the fall) but is still good over berries with a touch of sweetener because it is so thick -- way more so than heavy cream. Comes in at 10 calories a tbsp, I think, with only trace carbs. Is hubby lactose intolerant? This is the perfect solution for people who can't do dairy, don't want the carbs in the powdered non-dairy creamers, and who think that regular Almond Milk is just too watery to do the job. ![]() Nope, don't work for the company, but I've been raving about this stuff everywhere and they should pay me a commission! ![]()

He wants a bit of cream + a bit of sweet in his ONE daily cup of coffee, but we don't eat refined sugar, he hates the taste of splenda & stevia, but has been wanting to try Erythritol, and I see the 3rd option contains it! Plus we could add Capella flavor drops for flavored coffee! ![]() So this is really great info, thanks so much! ![]() |

but he won't do anything artificial or anything like that. he's an organic boy all the way! ![]() we were both vegetarians for 15 years, then started eating animal protein again in 2005. he doesn't have a pound to lose, but is cool with the whole organic, no processed, low carb, high fat thing, in general (in support of me, of course!). |

I actually prefer light cream in my coffee or protein shake.
This week I used Dana's suggestion of heavy cream with s/f vanilla pudding to make a topping for berries. Wow, is that delish! |

All of these have starches in them. Does the label say trace carbs? |
