I desperately need help getting back on track!

Hi,

I have been on and off of this board for years. I originally lost about 50 lbs back in 2003 just eliminating most carbs and watching the carb intake. I do not remember ever counting calories at all. I have slowly slacked off and now I am up about 15 lbs since 2003. I know that I eat too much, and too many of the wrong things. I just cannot seem to get back on track no matter how hard I try. I usually do ok at work, throughout the day as long as I pre plan my meals, however, I totally bomb at night after I get home. I just do not remember any of this being this hard the first time and I don't know what to do! I am really worried that I will lose control again and end up back at 184- which was my highest point ever! I was 158 this morning when I weighed, which is the highest I have been since my original weight loss. I lost down to about 142 about a year ago and stayed there for about two months, then slowly crept back up to 150 which is where I have stayed until now! Someone please help me get back on track!!!!!!!!!

Thank goodness you recognized this NOW and not after you put all the weight back on. You really CAN'T let this go ANY FARTHER. You need to stop the bleeding. What plan were you following before? Atkins? Do you have your book? Pick it up and READ IT.

(there, that was my attempt at tough love)

Hey, get off your rear! What are you waiting for? Your fat clothes are calling you! Refuse to heed their siren song!

Seriously, you know what to do. Go load up on LC groceries and make it your goal to get started posting starting tomorrow on the It's Wednesday, What Are You Eating post.

I'll be looking for you! Is it a deal?????

Start now and don't look back! You may trip and fall along the way but just get back up. You are not starting a new journey, you are just continuing on the journey you began when you started a low carb WOE. YOU CAN DO IT!

I refuse to eat anything after 7pm no matter how hard it is and before 7pm, I eat sugar free, carb free jello as a snack.

Thanks Everyone!

I so know what I need to do, but it is definitely going to be a struggle. I just started out my day with some bacon.. YUMMY! Do you think that I should worry about calories right now while I am getting back on track, or only carbs?

I would say watch your carbs and get yourself back on track! You can worry about the other stuff later when you are doing this naturally! Keep your carb count and stop and think before you eat anything and make sure it is to plan and you will be just fine!!! Good luck ! We are all here for you!!

Kisha has a good question. Please tell us what plan you are following. That may help.

Losing control in the evening is a common issue. Either you are eating the wrong things, too much, or both. Give us some more information.

Flat Ferenghi had a really good suggestion a while back. Try splitting your dinner in two. Eat half at dinner and the other half as your pre-bedtime snack.

Daveri - the suggestions about reading the book is a good thing.

Shop for clean healthy food!

My suggestion - if you are having trouble at night, recognize - where are you making bad choices. Is it quantity? Or that little/big snack?

If the issue is that you snack on the wrong food, I do recommend environmental control. Clear out the house - get rid of the snacks. I find that I am less apt to snack when snack foods are not readily available. Heck, I even keep my Lara Bars in the basement so I can't just "get one" while walking by. If I do choose to have one - it's a conscious decision.
