help- going to a waterpark- need food ideas
Thurs-we are leaving around 9, so I will try to eat a decent breakfast
the park we go to does not allow any carry ins, and I am too cheap to buy food. I am a hungry person, so would like some ideas of things I could put in my pockets to snack on we will go to the car in the afternoon for lunch anyone have ideas on what I can take in that will be ok in a cooler and I won't be able to warm it up? later in the evening, we will go to a restaurant, so I can find something there I was thinking about taking some of the south beach diet tide me over drink powder(6 carb/5 fiber/3 protein) |

I just went to a waterpark on the 4th with my kiddos. I took a cooler loaded with grilled chicken, veggies and dip, cheese, almonds, etc. We went out to the car to eat too. I was really satisfied and didn't really even think about the "park food". Have fun!

We went to an amusement park 2 weeks ago (they have a no food policy too, but they don't check bags very carefully). . .I brought a couple of string cheese, a packet of pistaschios, a bottle of water and some packets of splenda-sweetened single-serve drink mixes. I think the key for me was that I made a dish of coconut oil *mud* up and brought it in the car with me. I ate it just before we got to the park, and it kept me full for a long time.
Have fun! |

I just took my kids to the waterpark. Filled a cooler with freezer packs, chicken salad for me, chicken tortilla rollups for my kids, plus pork rinds for me and goldfish crackers for them, plus fruit, water and lemonade. We went out and had a "car picnic." They were still hungry later, so I got them a snack and bought myself a kelbasa (minus the bun).
Worked out just fine! |

I dont care what they say. My water park 'doesnt allow carry ins' either. But uh, every single Sat and Sun I go there, WITH MY CARRY-IN and eat it right in front of the staff and guards. I take a lunch-box type thing packed in my pool bag. Some chicken salad and a thing of yogurt surrounded by ice, sits nicely in my bag.

I would think almonds or walnuts would be easy to bring in in your pockets, but I actually wouldn't be afraid to carry something in.... If they give you any trouble, tell them that you have a variety of health problems that prevents you from eating food that you have not carefully prepared yourself, e.g. food allergies. Then throw in something like "I didn't think you'd want a case of anaphylactic shock on your hands here at the park, so I took it upon myself to bring my own specially prepared foods.
"See what they say to THAT. ![]()

I can usually find a bunless cheeseburger to dip in mayo anywhere. Plus, at those prices, I tend not to over eat, lol.....

I was just at Water World in Denver. They do allow carry-ins, but I see no reason you can't pack the same kind of stuff I did and just keep it in your cooler in the car.
I brought... Jicama slices to use as "bread" guacamole spread (instead of mayo) cold grilled chicken for the meat sprouts sun dried tomatoes in olive oil These made awesome sandwiches!!! Munchie stuff.... Costco pepperoni sticks (YUM!) Almonds Sugar-free peach iced tea Cherries |

thanks for all the ideas everyone. I can't wait to see my weight watcher friend when I bring out my bag of pork rinds- LOL
I was thinking I could make some banana bread oopsies - I have had those cold before and they are mucho nummy what is coconut oil mud? I really can't try to bend the rules too much. My DD works there and is getting us in the park. I know they check bags, but I think anything I can stuff in my pockets is safe |

Coconut oil mud is a recipe that Twyla originally posted, and I have tweaked it slightly to my tastes. It's a great way for me to get in my c.o. (and it's super nummy!)
1 Tbls coconut oil 2 Tbls choc protein powder 1 Tbls DaVinci's 1 Tbls flax meal 1 Tbls chopped pecans Mix it all up. . .it'll look like a blob of chunky mud, but trust me. . .pop it in the freezer for a few minutes to harden up a little (or not), and enjoy! I made this the night before we went to the park and then tossed it into a little cooler I was bringing. I ate it about 10 minutes before we got to the park and I was completely satisfied. ![]()

Last summer at our local water park i was assaulted by a teen-age water park employee for eating my bag of almonds! I don't even know how he spotted me! But he would NOT take no for an answer and I gave him my baggie!! I am still steaming over it!!!! All the hype about healthy kids and lots of exercise and the crap they sell those kids is ridiculous- not one healthy choice. I wish I was a stronger person and could have fought back with the snotty little guy... If we go back I'll pack a cooler and do lunch in the parking lot- (I am working on my assertiveness..it's a slow process...!!)
