About $4-$4.25 a lb., but I've seen it as high as $5 (and even more, for the non-frugal/too busy to comparison shop).

Andrea! What a great deal! I love Sunday Mornings at the Farmers Market. We have live music at ours.......in my County, we can find one at least 5 days a week. It's a nice social experience for us.

Thanks for that info, Lauren, since I go to the same Super Target. I expect the buffalo label doesn't specify because all buffalo is grass-fed--at least, I haven't HEARD of anyone feeding buffalo grain, as yet (which doesn't mean it can't have happened).

Not sure, but I will definitely ask and let you know!

The ranch has been in his family for 100+ years, they raise 60 cattle per year and in the past, always took them to Auction. This year they decided to venture into selling direct to the Public, they also have a pear orchard and sell those down at the Farmers Market and they're making flyers to pass out down there to gage interest in their grassfed beef...of course I think it's gonna be a hit!

They have 2 freezers: freshly processed and "old" (few weeks to few months). - the older stuff was half price so that's where I did all of my "shopping"! The newer stuff was $4 per lb (ground & wrapped patties) but that's still a screaming deal around here when Whole Foods sells it for $10 a lb.

We spent $100 and filled 2 freezers full of great, healthy, humanely raised meat. Nice.

The reason I ask is because the ranches hear in Colorado are charging $5.75/lb OR MORE! It might be cheaper for me to take a vacation to TX, load up the car and then drive back! LOL

I get gb at 4.99 a pound. Scored rib-eyes at 5.99 by buying the whole rib-eye. I bought two and the freezer is stuffed. Had them cut thinner so the portions were not too huge.

I typically pay $5.99 a lb. for grass-fed and $6.99 for grass-fed organic. That is for ground beef.

My health food store sells great organic grass fed steaks, but they are SPENDY! Two decent sized delmonico's were $28. We buy a pack every couple weeks.

Does anyone here have good luck with US Wellness? I know they are not organic, but they are grass finished. You don't know how many company's say their meat is 'grass-fed', but fail to mention it's finished on grain. That drives me nuts.

Yeah! A little bit of looking around made all of the difference - I found a local farmer selling no chemical, grass-fed beef for $4 cut weight. We spend that a the local grocery for hamburger when I can't get to the co-op for the grass-fed. Found him on craigslist of all places (same place I found my babysitter and crib).

Sells it in 50# increments - so we're splitting a couple hundred pounds.

Sending my deposit today and time to go buy a freezer!
