I don't have kids and my partner buys his own food, but I am a student, so I try to shop frugally too.

I read all the flyers, I signed up for a tops bonus card (discounts yay!) and I go to Food Basics which is at least 20% cheaper than the other stores in the area.
I scour the stores for marked down meat, then buy a ton of it and freeze it.
I also eat a ton of tuna and eggs. I stopped buying cheese, since it's really expensive. same with diet sodas, low-carb products etc... real food is better.

we also planted a garden. the tomatoes and peppers and zucchini aren't in yet, but we have 8 HUGE heads of lettuce that cost us like $4 to plant, and will probably feed me till it gets cold.
