My addition is: 1 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder + 2 pkts splenda + 1 tsp cinnamon
I also prefer coconut milk to the heavy cream. My bariatric doc sells a cup that has a metal ball inside it - it whips it, it's portable...I have one at home and one in the car! Last edited by oobladee : 07-20-2008 at 07:54 AM. |

I have a shaker like that. I love it! I got mine at Jay Robb's website. But I know they are available at a lot of other places. They are simply called blender bottles.
I am thinking about using Capella drops instead of Davinci's in the egg creams. I bet it will be tasty!!! Last edited by KROERT : 07-20-2008 at 08:38 AM. |

one thing to remember about egg subbstitutes though is even though it's "orangey" like egg yolks... It's only the whites, which don't have much nutritional value at all...
I made that same mistakes early on with my egg creams... |

Correct! And if you're doing Atkins, you want the fat grams in the yolk; that's what helps you stay full on the EC. Egg White ONLY can cause a biotin insufficiency. And that's yet another important supplement, per Atkins.

whole eggs are very important. The yolk contains lecithin and it's the absolute perfect food. You mess with the amino acid profile when you do not consume the yolk. Food left in its most natural state is what the human frame thrives on.

Oh my heavenly stars. I just had the BEST egg cream ever!
I used: 2 egg yolks unsweetened vanilla almond milk 1 scoop MRM low carb vanilla whey 1 T coconut oil 2 heaping tablespoons pumpkin puree a couple dashes of pumpkin pie spice and 1 heaping tsp of psyllium husk It was absolutely like drinking pumpkin pie. The psyllium and pumpkin make it very thick and rich. So good! |

I tried the pumpkin one the other day and had high hopes, but it tasted like raw pumpkin and not quite what I was looking for.
Maybe I should cook it and try it again?? I now have a tray of frozen pumpkin in my freezer LOL |

Parisfox, one of the gals on one of the challenge board threads I post on, has a pumpkin pie shake recipe you might try:
Pumpkin Pie Shake: 1 or 2 Pumpkin Pie cubes about 3 or 4 oz. Orange Crystal Lite (made according to pkg directions), & enough ice water to reach the "fill" line on my personal-size blender (probably 3-4oz). The pumpkin cubes take up some of the room. 1.5 scoops Vanilla Protein Powder 1-2 tsp Cinnamon 2-3 Tbsp Cool Whip (Walmart's House brand has NO transfats) Maybe that will be better. ![]() |

not really, it does add carbs so I keep it minimal.
I just love pumpkin pie! I can't do berries, to get enough flavor is too many carbs for me. Tomorrow my davinci syrups will be in (I forget what I ordered) and I can't wait to try some other flavors. I have never enjoyed breakfast so much since I was eating pop tarts!! |

From About dot com:
"Did You Know… that pumpkin is one of the vegetables allowed during Atkins’ Induction phase? Did You Know…that pumpkin is chock full of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants? Did You Know…that pie is not the only way to cook pumpkin? Pumpkin is one of those vegetables that is almost emblematic of fall – it makes us think of harvest, of holidays, of frost, of lengthening nights and the oncoming winter. And yet, the only way it usually gets to the table is in a store-bought pie, or perhaps a can of pie filling that goes in a pie we made ourselves. But pumpkin can be so much more -- and since pumpkin keeps for 6 months whole or for years in a can, it can be a year-round addition to our diets. Pumpkin is chock full ‘o goodness. You can tell by its bright color that it’s going to be going to be good for you. Not only is pumpkin loaded with vitamin A and antioxidant carotenoids, particularly alpha and beta-carotenes, it’s a good source of vitamins C, K, and E, and lots of minerals, including magnesium, potassium, and iron. Half a cup of canned pumpkin has 6.5 grams of effective carbohydrate and 3.5 grams of fiber. The seeds are also worth latching on to. Pumpkin seeds, also called pepitas, are loaded with minerals, seem to have an anti-inflammatory effect, and may even help protect against prostate cancer and osteoporosis. A quarter cup has about 5 grams of effective carb and 1.5 grams of fiber. "

Pumpkin is very healthy! It's low carb, has great fiber, is high in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals etc....
Prozak - try adding vanilla whey and psyllium husks. They both take the raw pumpkin taste away and make it thick and creamy. I agree with you - raw pumpkin in a shake is way too raw tasting for me but this way really seemed to work. |

So how about an egg nog egg cream?....eggs, cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, sf sweetener of somekind, maybe some rum extract. A scoop of vanilla protein powder would probably mix well too.
