what do you do when you hit that wall?

Every diet I've been on ends at about 173 pounds.

Today I weighed in at 173.5 and thought, "Well, that's it. I won't be able to lose any more." Why have I put up a mental wall of failure? I dont plan on giving up, but I dont have high expectations to pass this point anytime soon. How did you get past that point?!

Ironic, considering my signature line says, "Success is based on our expectation of ourselves.”, isn't it? I guess it's time to put my head down, keep my mouth shut and just plow through it, huh?

Plow through Hezzie.....this is mind over matter and I have seen your posts before - you are stronger than this. Look at what you have accomplished in 6 weeks time....You have about 6 more weeks until Labor Day - think where you can be by then if you keep going.

First of all, congratulations on reaching 173.5 lbs! You're making great progress, so please take the time to appreciate this accomplishment and allow it to soak in.

My advice is to continue doing what you are doing regarding your eating and exercise. Be consistent and persistent. If possible, try to focus your attention on something other than the scale for awhile. This will help you to allow your body to drop more weight without psyching yourself out/sabotaging yourself.

Keep moving forward.

I've done every diet ever written. I had even done Atkins several times before. My magic number was 30. Every time I reached the 30 pound down mark I would mentally screw up and then I was done.

This time around I knew where my stumbling block was. When I had lost 28 pounds, I told myself every day, you can do this, you can make it. A week and a half later, scale showed me down 31 pounds. I celebrated. I told myself, now you broke that barrier, nothing can stop you. Guess what? Nothing did.

Good luck to ya and be encouraged!

Where in Anderson are you? We have family in Edgewood and Pendleton! Did you grow up there?
