Scallops--carbs???
Hi!
I was at Trader Joe's this evening and was looking at the frozen seafood. I picked up a bag of Wild Caught large scallops which looked delicious. The only ingredient listed was "Wild Caught Scallops" but yet the label listed 3 carbs for 4 large scallops. There was 0g fiber listed and 0g sugar so what kind of carbs are they then?? So confused.... ![]() Thanks! Katie |

I don't know why, but I was bummed when I found out since I love scallops. Oysters have carbs as well. I think I saw on another low carb board that you're limited to 4 oz per day on Atkins.

Scallops are muscles and the carb they contain is glycogen--the storage form of carbohydrate.
The amount of carb in a half pound scallops is about 5 g. Dress them up with low carb sauces and a nice green veg and salad you have a wonderful moderate calorie meal. I would not obsess about their few carbs. They make a very nice change from red meat. |
