NBC NEWS!!

I JUST saw the story about lowcarb vs low fat on NBC Nightly News.
Did any of you see it??

It basically said there is 'no evidence' that LOWFAT works any better than lowcarb and actually it was VERY PRO LOW CARB! I dont recall exactlywhat the study concluded but it definitely made it clear that Dr. Atkins was 'RIGHT ON!!'

Anyone know where we can get a transcript of it??

Probably NBC.com. Im gonna look for it.

Until then if anyone else saw it please post here what you heard

Just watched it here too!

Very positive. They called the LC diet "Atkins type" or "Atkins like" (forget which) and stated not only did the dieters lose more, but their blood panels improved. They found no advantage to the low fat diet.

And I know it works - now if I could only recommit myself!

Maybe we should email all the major foodmarkets like Walmart , shaws, stop N shop , Hannaford, and give them links to all these news stories to get some lowcarb stuff back out there.

It must be making the rounds on the news. I saw it on CBS news with Katie Couric. Very positive about low-carb

I had fallen asleep when my SO shook me and said, "Honey, wake up...you'll want to see this!"

What good news.... and such a credible study, too. I only wish Dr. Atkins could have lived to enjoy the validation.

where's the fat?

people are going to lower their fat and increase their protein and BAM: we have 'assploding kidneys' everywhere because of 'Atkins'.

2 steps forward and 1 step back i suppose

One more thing...what beef does Ann Curry have with Atkins? Someone clue her in on what Atkins really is. It's not just bacon and cheeseburgers.

I just read this on Yahoo news and I did print it out. I am going to keep it in my purse.

It did mention limiting saturated fats on low carb and that there wasn't a lot of eggs, cream and butter. Not sure what that's about. I eat plenty of all three.

Oh well, it's a step in the right direction.

Maybe in another 20 years they'll do a study that does include plenty of butter, bacon and prime rib.....and they'll really be amazed at the results of that.

Baby steps.....

Too bad, the LC'ers would have lost a lot more than that if they were eating butter, eggs, and cream. It says they were encouraged to eat vegetarian sources of fat and protein?

Playing Devil's Advocate again here, but I watched the story on MSNBC and CBS and it indicated that the low carb diet that was touted as "Atkins" was meatless or almost meatless. How can that possibly be Atkins? It sounds more like vegetarian low carb to me or even the Eat to Live Diet.
